Major figure of the European domain name industry, the Austrian domainer Dietmar Stefitz has died on the 4th of December 2020 in Valencia, Spain, in his late 60s. In the last decade, he organized many domaining events in Spain, where he has lived for over 20 years, and in other cities in Europe. His only goal when gathering people was to make them learn from each other, share the best practices, create friendships and have a great time. His action lead to the constitution of a strong European domaining community, with an identity inspired from his personality. His kindness and generosity were legendary and genuine. He loved the relationships with people and used to give the same attention to anybody regardless his or her nationality, age, gender, education, size of domain portfolio, purchasing power, etc. European domainers shall be forever grateful for his legacy of placing humans first, way before domain names, money and transactions. Nobody in the European domaining sector has even had even one third of its well-deserved popularity. He was also a bridge between European domaining and US domaining, being the friend and model of so many people from each side of the Atlantic Ocean. We will miss him. A lot.
