If you park a domain, the domain loses its google pagerank. Is it true?

Thank you very much

does it just go down a few PR or does it drop to 0 completely (since google updates once every couple of months)?

The page doesn't resolve for me, but it looks like when Pagerank was calculated, it was not parked page, but joomla site. If it's currently parked (you should check that DNS) it will lose PR - it will either go to 0 or greybar.

Bear in mind that the Pagerank you see in the toolbar (or in any online tool other than dir.google.com) is three to six months old.

But no, I parked linuxinvent.info some weeks ago. Now it's "offline".
I only ask if it possible to lose PR when you park domain - a sort of "google punishment" :)

It's not a punishment, it's a filter.

Here is a nice llll.com i picked up not long ago, it was parked for several months and was formally a software company, it seems to still have PR intact as far as i know http://www.dozp.com/ im building a minisite with it.

I've had some domains parked for more than 8 months now, and they still have their PageRanks. Maybe dropped by 1 or 2 ranks, but still they have PR. I believe the drop in PR is due to the backlinks being removed by other websites, not because the page is Parked.

When you park a page, and when the other people linking to you knows about it, sometimes they will remove the link to your parked page. When many people do this, eventually your PR will drop. And people correlate parked page = drop in PR.

I believe if all the backlinks remain, then PR will not drop.

pagerank is based on more than just backlinks - it's also based on... frontlinks. the correlation is a very normal one since a parked page is full of outbound links.

Pagerank almost stays for a while, it's on backlinks, parked site loses reciprocal links and doesn't get new and spend it's PR on outgoing links, so it slowly loses PR.
Other way is trustrank 9that nobody sees and it determines google posititon), it loses much as there are no relevant frontlinks, You're losign relevant backlinks.

And google itselfs penalise You for parking and lower Your position.

Actually, that's not quite true. You can have the same number of backlinks (or even more backlinks) and lose pagerank if some of those backlinks have been devalued for whatever reason.

And some people believe that every now and then there is an overall adjustment (possible too fractional to see unless you're on the border between one visible pagerank and the next) for the ever increasing number of urls - i.e. dilution.

isn't trustrank a yahoo concept and not google???

The name trustrank is a technology standard that Yahoo helped develop (I think with Stanford) Google uses a trust element in its algorithms - I think people just started calling it trustrank because they tend to lump it in with pagerank as yet another metric.

Yes. Trustrank isn't official name. People just call it like that due to relevancy criteria instead off pure number and PR value of links.

I believe that's what I already posted, thanks.

Links stay - PR stays

Well for my domains at Parked.com the PR has stayed.

I have several domains that are well over six months old and they've only ever been parked since I've owned them. They still have PR.

Here's some examples.
One was picked up Jan.9th still is PR3
Another Jan.9th is still PR3 (I added some links to that one to get its SERP results up).
Another Jan.16th PR2

I have several more

Bottom line is that with parked.com the PR does NOT drop. If the backlinks stay the PR will stay. Thats assume what other people have mentioned about the backlinks keeping their strength-PR themselves.

Thanks

I've got a couple at fab that have increased in pr since parking them there. But on the whole most either just stay the same or slowly decrease with each update.
