does parking a domain affect its pagerank ie will one that has a decent pagerank lose it and will one that has predicted pagerank get it if it is parked?

I believe that parking a domain has a very negative effect on pagerank. I don't know the specifics though.

As far as I am aware Page Rank is more a result of good page content than anything ? - I have a name that if I remember correctly was a PR3 or 4 about six months ago when it dropped, it still has over 6,000 incoming links but it is now PR0

So I think PR will decrease rapidly if parked - not increase.

Unless Google has made some drastic changes to how they determine pagerank - pagerank is based on the number of and quality of incoming links.

As related sites that have linked to a domain realize that the site is now just a parked page they will remove those links ... pagerank will drop. Pagerank doesn't change over night but as updates are done by Google and backlinks dry up, so will the pagerank.

In general, I've noticed PRs decrease when parked. Although, initially you could benefit from the initial PR.

i have to argue on the positive side of this PR question I have some names in my sig that were hand regged and parked immediately and never moved from namedrive parking in the months since registration they have increased in PR from 0 to the high of 3 this is not the first time I have seen this either so its my opinion that parking does not effect PR and in some cases it establishes a PR

I believe parking a domain does affect its pagerank as pagerank largely counts on links to your site. Since the domain would just be a parked page there won't be new links and the existing links would also be removed sooner or later. So the PR is bound to get affected.

I'm pretty sure parked domains do not have high pagerank because there is little or no content on the site. PR of 3 is the max I've seen for a generic parked domain.

Content is huge factor in PageRank determination by google. Since parked pages have no content, therefore the incoming links are not relevant and the domain loses its PR.
