I searched for something like this being posted before and couldn't find it. I was just wondering everybody's opinions of the lower class extensions and their values (how they compare).

Disregarding com, net, and org, list the next 5 domains in order of highest to lowest value in YOUR opinion. I'm curious to see what everybody thinks.

Good evening X_GuardiaN_X :)

There are many threads regarding the ranking value of extensions, and they occur so often it gets monotonous. The phrase "Com is King" has been used so much, and ingrained into everyone's mind, that I'm convinced it can become a hit song. I've already started writing the lyrics, and my nephew is composing the music. I plan to have a MP3 ready to upload somewhere soon.

After that? Who knows. Maybe a "Com is King" television special, followed by a live tour. Topping it off, I will try and get the members of the world famous Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders to quit their jobs and begin new careers as the King Com Dancers. We can travel around the globe together, entertaining people with awesome music, hot dancing girls, and a brief presentation explaining why all other extensions are inferior.

Anyway.... we all have our silly little dreams.

Thankfully your request is unique from most other ranking threads, since you want to disregard .COM / .NET / .ORG and look at the alternatives. So instead of telling you to use the search feature and leaving the thread rolling my eyes (like I've done in about 100 other ranking threads) I'm actually going to participate in this one. :)

You want 5, and you are looking outside CNO.

Ok, without thinking too deeply on the subject here is my opinion.

My top 5 values (in no particular order) are: .US / .DE / .INFO / .BIZ / .CO.UK

I did not rank them individually, because depending on the name, audience and market, all 5 have proven to hold significant value. I don't feel there is a hands down winner in all cases.

*My 2 honorable mentions, and both having exciting future potential: .TV / .IN

Hahah, thats gave me a good laugh.

Anyways...

I would say :imho: : .US, .CC, .DE, .IN, .CA.

Without necessarily igniting a passionate and emotional debate, which so often is a given in the context of such discussion, I'd agree pretty much with what db has noted above. In fact, I'd argue that ALL major ccTLDs (.de, .co.uk, .us, .cn, .in) and the two gTLDs (.info & .biz) have bright future ahead simply due to the fact that the Internet phenomenon has just barely started. Internet will be expanding its reach into our daily lives in a manner unprecedented by any medium before, and with that the demand and value of good, generic domains in all major tlds is bound to appreciate.

I will also note that even though almost everyone (and their dog) is in the habit of singing ".com is the king" mantra, its only with some realistic appreciation and observation of the industry that one realizes that for vast majority of folks entering into the domain game at this stage, or for that matter even 2-3 years back, it does not mean anything from a practical standpoint.....To clarify my point, let me say this: I'd love to see the lucky ones who have regged decent .coms in last 2-3 years...for those who are in the illusion that they have found un-regged .com gems I'd say just try to sell them and hopefully the realities of aftermarket will be quick to offer a valuable lesson. The simple fact is that ALL names of any potential value have been long gone in .com, and the only way one can get them is paying for them with an arm and a leg in the aftermarket or through brutal competition at the drops. So, my humble advice to new-comers (without deep pockets) would be to forget the .coms and instead use your energies and intellect in mining thru few remaining decent names in ccTLDs and newer extensions like .info and .biz.

I'm suprised to see .cc "up" there, they are usually appraised at very very low when being compared to .biz, .us, etc.
