oneprettydomain.com project!

I missed the oneuglydomain project so much that I have decided to take it upon myself to revive it in an altered form!

It has launched as oneprettydomain.com and I have simplified the rules and process to hopefully keep things moving a bit quicker and easier this time.

Basically it will be a one week submission period, with a trade to be chosen (or not) at the end of the week. There will be no voting, as I believe trying to have the subjective process of choosing a domain through a voting process hurt the original project. The trade choices, bad or (hopefully) good, will all be on myself, with hopefully much discussion (as before) on the perceived merits or mistakes.

Only easily transferred domains (no restrictive country codes a la .ca or .us) from members of the forum will be considered.

At the end of 52 weeks, (and hopefully 52 trades), the final domain will either be sold or developed. We'll see how discussion goes on that. :)

I hope we can get back to having some fun with this, and see where it all ends up at the end of the 52 weeks. This project is all about promoting our industry, and raising awareness of this "unknown" and growing part of our modern economy!

The first domain offered is indeed a pretty one - Plentiful.net (enom - renewal feb 2009 - one word dictionary - 9 million google).

So check out www.oneprettydomain.com, for all of the rules, deadlines and other information.

I will post about this in the uglydomain thread as well.

Cheers!

Well, as the trader who offered
up the llll.com's, I'd be happy
to make this trade.

Although i like my hardalcohol.net/.info i think the LLLL.coms are the best choice. They will generate a lot around the project and you will see some amazing offers for the week coming up. "Go where the money is, no matter what" is what i say. To honest i hate llll.coms but trust me i own some and i have cashed in on them as well.

I hadn't realized the 2 LLLL.coms were a package. That would certainly be the best choice of the list. Tristanperry is right about how it could lead to some nice trades.
Trading with those 2 names would probably bring you many more offers since so many
people are specifically looking for LLLL.com. Maybe one of those names would be the
first big step forward.

OK what Tivo said:)

Houston, we have a trade!

After much research, hand-wringing and, most of all, reading all of your great rationales, I have pulled the trigger and agreed to trade Plentiful.net and the ad space for the LLLL.com package.

Per Tivo, I also don't really totally get the LLLL.com frenzy, but the current domain market can't be argued with, and they will be nice and liquid, which should attract some good offers in the next round and should indeed keep this project moving along very nicely, as pointed out on this thread.

Thanks much for all of your great input this week, and all of the great offers, and let's see what Week 3 will bring ...

Cheers.

The LLLL.coms are easy to put a dollar range on, whereas the other names are more amorphous. I think you'll be able to find a lot of offers for those names. I would go for the two LLLL domains and see if I could turn it around for something nice.

If I were you I would trade the LLLL.com's with cash and then trade the cash with other domains. You are not selling them. You are simply allowing cash offers along with domain offers. This is not a sale because you will pick the best offer, whether it is a cash offer or domain.

At least allow cash offers and see what happens. Allowing them doesn't mean you will accept them. Maybe you will, maybe you won't. Just let us see what happens. I would say accepting cash offers from NP members with 5 or more trade rating should be fine. Co'mon many people want to make a cash offer.

If you took the money it would be a sale. If you don't touch the money it is an exchance.

Money would defeat the purpose for the whole project. The idea is to TRADE UP. If he took cash that would be considered a flip not a trade.

Thanks all, for the valuable input.

Per the cash idea, as I mentioned earlier I will not take cash in this particular project, it is a pure domain trading "adventure", but what I will do is take any cash offers and pass that information on to potential traders, which ostensibly accomplishes what marcello is getting at. This would allow someone without domains, or end users, to become part of the process. It would also, of course, give an intrinsic value for domain traders to think about when making their offers.

And that is the beauty of the LLLL.com package up for trade this week. The domain community knows there is a very liquid cash market for those particular domains on the forums right now.

Let the offers begin!

So Week 3 is now open for trade offers.

The QRXJ.com and PQVJ.com package is up for grabs, along with a text ad on the oneprettydomain.com site. To make things even more interesting I have renewed both domains until 2013! That is some nice and handy added value, I would say.

Get those offers in, and let's see where we end up next!

After much analysis and consideration, I just cannot see a sure trade up this week and consequently the QRXJ.com and PQVJ.com package (registered through 2013) will be held over for Week 4. The offers were all very tempting, and all but one were .com's, a great indicator that the offers are definitely strengthening as the project progresses. Thanks to all who submitted, and I look forward to the trade offers this week!
