I missed the oneuglydomain project so much that I have decided to take it upon myself to revive it in an altered form!

It has launched as oneprettydomain.com and I have simplified the rules and process to hopefully keep things moving a bit quicker and easier this time.

Basically it will be a one week submission period, with a trade to be chosen (or not) at the end of the week. There will be no voting, as I believe trying to have the subjective process of choosing a domain through a voting process hurt the original project. The trade choices, bad or (hopefully) good, will all be on myself, with hopefully much discussion (as before) on the perceived merits or mistakes.

Only easily transferred domains (no restrictive country codes a la .ca or .us) from members of the forum will be considered.

At the end of 52 weeks, (and hopefully 52 trades), the final domain will either be sold or developed. We'll see how discussion goes on that. :)

I hope we can get back to having some fun with this, and see where it all ends up at the end of the 52 weeks. This project is all about promoting our industry, and raising awareness of this "unknown" and growing part of our modern economy!

The first domain offered is indeed a pretty one - Plentiful.net (enom - renewal feb 2009 - one word dictionary - 9 million google).

So check out www.oneprettydomain.com, for all of the rules, deadlines and other information.

I will post about this in the uglydomain thread as well.

Cheers!

A fun one was just added to this week's offers, IdiotsForHire.com.

Did some brief writeups on the offers this week so far on my latest posting on the site.

Would love some feedback / comments on this week's offerings from you guys as well.

Thanks everyone, for the great offers so far this week, and keep them coming. I want to give someone Plentiful.net and the first advertisement on oneprettydomain.com this week!

Another domain added to the list of offers this week,

Commercially.org

Was thinking might make a cute name for a site about commercials ...

Keep those offers coming. Giving away Plentiful.net and exclusive (only to successful traders) advertising space for the right offer.

And at the very least, you get your pretty domain names in lights for the week!

Some nice offers for week 2. I am kind of leaning towards HardAlcohol right now... but maybe that just means I need to head to the bar.

Tomorrow I will be posting a little analysis of the domains offered so far, and I am looking forward to more pretty domain offers!

QRXJ.com that raises the bar on the domains....

QRXJ.com was offered up yesterday, one of those LLLL.com's everyone is talking about. Looking forward to more offers this week, and finding out who will get the first advertisement.

Pretty nice traffic to the site already, and picking up, so an advertisement (exclusive to the successful traders only!) should provide a nice extra value that will increase over the weeks of the project.

Get those offers in!

Deadline for Week 2 offers is tonight at 11PM EST.

The trade accepted will get Plentiful.net and almost a year of prime and exclusive (to successful traders only!) advertising. You can use it to promote anything you like, another domain, a parked page, your dog, a business, you name it!

Get those offers in and get a chance at grabbing this great package.

Thanks for the enouragement dontknow and thanks for the offer ideesweb!

Also one trader sweetened his offer by putting up an additional LLLL.com.

Here are the offers so far:

Findaimage.com
Coverage.biz
HardAlcohol.net/.info
IdiotsForHire.com
Commercially.org
QRXJ.com and PQVJ.com
LaughBook.com

Also, as an additional bonus this week, the first advertisement I will put up as a full banner size (across the top of oneprettydomain.com), including any custom graphic requirements, until the next trade is done. As mentioned earlier, the successful trader ads will be standard google adsense type text ads, but for now there is lots of room so I will let the all-important first successful trader take advantage of a week or two of full banner graphic advertising!

6 hours to get those offers in ...

The double LLLL.com offer looks pretty good to me.

Well, time's up for submissions.
I wonder which domain will end
up on top of the heap this round?

So I need some help here guys and girls. I really, really, really want to do the first trade for Plentiful.net and give away the first ad (a nice big banner to start!) But I am going to need some convincing. I want to make sure that the trades "feel" right to me, and, to be honest, nothing is really jumping out at me right now from the list below. I am diligently conducting my research and assessments today and will post those results later today, but in the meantime, would really appreciate your feedback and opinions. And don't be shy to state your case here if you have offered a trade that you think deserves the first big trigger pull!

Findaimage.com
Coverage.biz
HardAlcohol.net/.info
IdiotsForHire.com
Commercially.org
QRXJ.com and PQVJ.com
LaughBook.com

I agree with ideesweb on his 3 picks, they are by far the best of what you have to choose
from. However I'm not sure they have as much value as Plentiful.net. You certainly would
not be moving ahead with any of them.

I agree that those may be the best of the offers, although I might disagree on the "not moving ahead" line of thinking. I think the two LLLL.coms would be a step forward, but I may not value Plentiful.net as much as some.

I'd definitely go for QRXJ.com and PQVJ.com.

They're worth around $60 each (IMO), meaning that unless you think Plentiful.net is worth $120 (which I personally don't :)), then do the trade.

Plus LLLL.coms are in high demand at the moment, I think it'd lead to some nice trades next round.

Just to clarify, the two LLLL.com's are a package. I am still in the midst of my own value assessment, but I am not convinced any of the trades offered will make the cut this week, I'm afraid. I know there is a buzz about LLLL.com's right now, but even at their buzz pricing (and these are not "premium" letters) they just don't feel like a smart trade up.

My assessments are incomplete, but the leader right now would actually be Coverage.biz:

single dictionary word.

google 290 million results. Ovt/mos 3687.

common term in the lucrative (in terms of internet advertising) insurance and media industry.

really suits the extension ("business insurance coverage", "business media coverage").

BUT, and it is a big "but", .biz is just not there yet in terms of value as an extension (definitely behind net/org/info in general). And for this format, looking for short term trades in the here and now, it doesn't really work.

I know estibot is not any kind of real valuation (and not what I rely on at all) but for everyone's info I will post the values as it is worth comparing them all in the same estibot "vacuum".

Findaimage.com - $reg fee
Coverage.biz - 310.00
HardAlcohol.net/.info - reg fee
IdiotsForHire.com - reg fee
Commercially.org - 1100.00
QRXJ.com / PQVJ.com pack - 70.00 ea (140.00)
LaughBook.com - 80.00

Plentiful.net - 1000.00

Coverage.biz doesn't look very good to me because of the extension.

I would either hang on the current domain or take those two LLLL.com's and auction them off. Then put the money on table.

If you don't trade this round please cancel the advertisement space thing. It makes you look desperate and it makes the domain look less valuable. This was the biggest mistake the previous project had.

You need to trust on the quality of your domain and stand firm. The more you try the more your image is going down. You made a good start. Now its time to keep it clean.

Trust yourself and make the trade you think is right. If you think coverage.biz is the best, then make that trade. Domain valuation is largely perception based and there may be others who agree with you that aren't speaking up. That being said, it may be a step backward which also isn't a bad thing. You may "trade down" for a name that is more tradeable than Plentiful.net which will then allow you to trade back up and keep the wheels on this bus moving.

Take everything in, but trust your gut feeling.
