got 4 clicks today on various sites (which is very good for me thus far) and got a whopping $.55

i mean... if i beat reg fee in a year i am happy but this is getting ridiculous

if google adsense clicks are down and adwords is the largest advertising service for businesses, i am guessing i wont get a bigger boost elsewhere

what do you think?

Sorry to here that about your poor CPC.

It might have something to do with the niche of your websites (some pay more...some less) or some other variable that you can think of like geo origin of the clicks.

Also the quality of your sites on a whole, plays a part. I removed one site that was crappy traffic and everything improved. I'm just assuming but the effect was considerable after removing said site.

If you are hooked up to analytics of any sort, it's a good place to decipher where your traffic is coming from and where your clicks might be originating.

Likewise there are numerous tools provided by goog themselves to give you an idea of the CPC that you might expect from any type of niche. try this one out. It will show you what advertisers are paying for a particular keyword and give a rough idea of what you might earn. I'm not saying that's what you will earn...you have to take into consideration G's cut of the take and the low end of the scale:

Personally, I had my best month last month in regards to cost per click, averaging $1.40.

Who knows?! It might drop through the floor this month. I hope not though.

what exactly is crappy traffic? i have 1 site that gets traffic primarily through a wikipedia link but i wouldnt consider that crappy because the time on site is high. then there are a few sites that get traffic through facebook links. everything else is primarily search engine traffic, and on the whole that's where half of all my traffic comes from. my domains aren't good enough to get type-in traffic

How much did u make off adsense last month you tease?

i am actually getting better at this game of making money through adsense. i think i have a system going, all i need to do is rinse and repeat for awhile. pretty good for someone that was hopeless on namepros.. really just a few months ago

Not hopeless sunshine. :)

Sometimes it just takes a while for some people to find their groove. You seem to be settling into yours and good luck to you for finding it.

if you're talking adsense for domains problem with them is there is no sales link, most of my income has come from domain sales from the parked page over the years and until they have that I wouldn't even try them as losing out on sales wouldn't be worth it even if it did pay more ppc, if your talking regular adsense ads currently I'm using mainly cj.com, ebay, amazon, shopping, etc... so I got no recent stats to compare but I see declines in most pay per click programs now with an occasional huge click here and there.

No...not AFD.

Haven't tried adsense for domains with any of my names. I keep thinking that I should get around to it and try a few names, but I always let it slip and forget to give it whirl.

Adsense is near dead, for publishers anyway, Google are just increasing their margins and decreasing everyone elses.

Flogging a dead horse people, AFD = Fail

I agree with Maxeaus Totally.

Google had welfare for their affiliates previously. Now, they just want to increase their share price on NASDAQ instead of getting more affiliates.

Why? I think its' our fault as well. we all have a part to play for making them the search engine giant. The worst part is that we still need to rely on them.

If so, do you have any suggestion or some alternatives. I face same problem that my adsense earning decrease significanlty for several months later although the number of UV almost not changed.

We just removed adsense from our secondary network, cpc was averaging 1-2c, just not worth it, why hassle visitors for $2 / day and this was over 30k pageviews / day.

Our primary network has a premium feed and a US based company, so thats still doing well, though a lot lower than it used to 2 years back.

All this while Adwords / Adsense made 5+ Billion in '08-'09 - up from 3 Billion in '07-'08. Think something new is due anytime soon that will shake these guys in their boots.

I'm wondering if CPC is affected simply due to the economy weeding out the paying advertisers; first, many companies went out of business due to the crash, leaving fewer advertisers to place their adwords on your site; second, I wonder if many of the surviving adwords contributors are simply trying to save money by budgeting less on their max payable CPC and capping daily ad expenditure at lower ceilings... this would cause a blanket movement across the board of lowered maximum bids for the ads...

This seems to make sense to me. Percentage reduction in our average CPC earnings can come from loss of advertiser money, as well as from G bumping up their 'cut' of each click.

Though personally, I haven't seen a reduction in adsense earnings, still climbing each month due to me producing new sites constantly, and the sites that were performing are still performing about the same. Of course, I started producing minisites at about the time the crash began, so I can't compare earnings now against how earnings were before the crash.

That's part of it. Another thing is that Google terminated a lot of Adwords advertiser accounts recently - advertisers have been afraid of having an even slightly lowish quality score and have been pausing campaigns, afraid to start new ones ... further reduction of the number of available ads and the amount of advertiser money that powers the publisher (Adsense) side of the equation.

Getting "smart priced" is another thing that can drop Adsense earnings - if clicks from your account don't convert well for advertisers overall, they will be charged less for clicks from your sites. Smart pricing affects your entire account - sometimes it pays to remove Adsense from anything you suspect may not be performing well.

I only run Adsense on a handful of my sites, but those few have shown an increase in the average CPC every year over the last 4-5 years.

As if being shafted in CPC was not enough, Google now pays me in AUS dollars, AND i need $150 to cash instead of $100, needless to say I'm sitting on $103 with 0% chance of getting the $47 anytime this decade.

If i could shut my account and get the money i would, but naturally you cant even do that.

GOOGLE YOU SUCK!
