The sale of SportsBook.mobi for $129,800 is now official. Its now lead the YTD sales-Charts 2007, and be the third 6-figure sale of MOBI (after Flowers.mobi and Fun.mobi) in just 4 Months since the registration opened. wow!
Like Ron Jackson of DNJOurnal said "the isolated incident theory of Flowers.mobi was blown out of the water this week when another six-figure buyer bellied up to the .mobi bar"

I'm not tryin to be "so optimistic" person, but being positive for things that i hold is not all wrong. All these BIG SALES news are the real-prove (for now) for evrybody who always said bad things about MOBI. I'm not tryin to get all of you wrong, but please APPRECIATE, its okay to argue bout something but not to JUDGE. So we could appreciate what you're tryin to say.

after all, this is a very good start for all Mobi'ers, but still... its too early to say something real... Btw, Good Luck for All Domainers! :)

It appeared on DNJournal last week.

Still want to know how the seller sell it at such a high price.

Uhm.... you're a little late for the party.

The bigger thing is why are mobi defenders so obsessed with being right about this? The same can be said for those who obsessively hate .mobi. Why not worry about your goals & go after what you want.

Duplicate.

This "Official Announcement" seems familiar ...

It's been summed up as follows ... An anonymous Buyer who either owns a "Sportsbook" website or simply had to have an already-registered Sportsbook.mobi domain name found that the name was taken by fellow member, SaltySoda. This anonymous Buyer then contacted a Broker that contacted SaltySoda for the name. SaltySoda, though inexperienced, didn't want to sell the name for a low amount and the price got high up above $XXX,xxx ... so he then agreed to sell! :music:
He then posted here (link below) to share his sale! :talk:

Now, everyone is happy (and a pretty pink elephant just flew by my window)! :p

To not further duplicate the topic, here is the very long "Sportsbook" thread:

Have a great domain name Sunday, friends! :)

That is when mTLD may/may not start using Sedo to auction some premium names. Rumor is that Roses.mobi was to go to auction that day, coinciding with Valentines day. Cheesy PR stunt that has yet to be confirmed.

I hope our broker, sparedomains, com got his commission due to him.
I wonder how what he intends to do with the money...?

Well, this must be the best sale since...beauty,cc sold for a reported $1 M ! :)

No comment.

Regarding the broker/commision post of Aggro's ... some thoughts that came to (my) mind:
What about the tax implications ... this is really important (as well as timely) ... I'm assuming that the Broker commission will be added to the cost basis of $30.48, and that it will all then be taxed at a higher relative rate due to the short-term holding nature of ownership, IMHO. Schedule D / Capital Gains of the Forum 1040 U.S. Income Tax Return. Will it be reported in 2006, or 2007? In the US or foreign? gl:

Any further insight on this matter would also greatly be appreciated ... I'm sure others are wondering same. Additionally, please, as always, consult with your tax advisor, CPAโ„ข, or Enrolled Agentยฉ, IMHO. :gl:
Regards.

should be reported in 2006 and the tax should be exactly as you stated it the net short term capital gain less acquisition cost and any expenses related to the marketing of the domain and commissions. IMHO

Agree.

^ I was thinking the same thing, IMHO. :gl:

Perhaps the Seller did it for strategic purposes in Year 2006? :|
Just my two sense.

Could have been a case where the buyer was looking for a write off of his/her own. Therefore holding out wasn't an option. Anyone tossing around that kind of dough for a name probably exercises all tax options. Lets see. Pay $40,000 in taxes on the money or buy a good name for $130k and write off the expense.
