Upon pondering the Sportsbook.mobi sale I came to realize that the only comparison is flowers.mobi. This post is meant to discuss the market of mobi not to bash it or questions it's validity. I want to have an honest discussion of these 2 sales as a comparison.
When sportsbook.mobi was announced as a $xxx, xxx sale I thought it very possible since the sportsbook arena is a massive possibilty for mobile money. The bucks are there. IMHO it SHOULD have sold for more than flowers.mobi. However it didn't so I wonder why. Does anyone else think that sportsbook.mobi would be worth more than flowers.mobi? Sports betting is huge and the ability to place bets from the comfort of your phone along with odds and up-to-the-minute information could be enormous.
Also the recent weirdness of mobi and sedo on their auctions....what's up with that? Sedo says they are auctioning premium Mobi names...mTLD says they are not? So what's the truth?
Obviously there is a market for mobi...in just a few short months commanding 2 $xxx, xxx sales is imho unprecedented. Whether you believe in mobi and it's future is irrelevent...because others believe in it. They believe enough to fork over hard cash too. Any domainer that didn't get a pile of solid keywords from day one is surely feeling a bit of remorse right now.
So...back to the real questions.
