How common is it, from the experience of fellow domainers with Sedo experience, for a Sedo buyer / auction winner not to pay once the deal is done? And, are you ever given any info so that you can pursue them on your own should you choose to (if the $$$$ is worth it)?
Thanks.

They're the scurge of sedo auctions. I don't know the percentage of transactions were the buyer walks away, but we see plenty of examples here and it's happened to me several times. I asked Sedo to provide me with their contact email. They did give me an address in some obscure country which looked like a mailing address, but no email.

Its funny. Sedo non-payers are like 50% in my experience. eBay does better. Far better. 90+% buyers pay & pay promptly. Sedo should probably collect a deposit of probably $10 or $50 and should pay this amount to the sellers if the buyer backs-away from the deal. This would also reduce shill-bidding.

My experience with SEDO has been better (about 20 sales). About 75% pay me - most in a day or two. I also have seen that the SEDO staff does extensive follow-up.

The sales that go through normal sedo Offers usually go through. More than 90%. But, the auctions.. especially last-minute bidders are a problem!

If offers were reasonable I usually accept them rather than let them go to auction. I feel that way the buyer is more motivated to pay since he got his deal. I would have a problem with SEDO's system if I were a buyer, and made an offer and then my target name went to auction. I don't think I would be all that inclined to buy it at auction.

Same. I once offered $ for a domain, and the guy put it into auction. From that point, I said forget about it.

I noticed you must go to transactions to view an accepted offer (as a buyer). It took me 4 days to realize the seller accepted my latest offer...I wonder how many people dont even realize they need to pay and the selleer thinks they didnt want to pay? Sedo should pop it up as soon as you log on to your account...

I've never made an offer for a domain at Sedo, but doesn't it tell a buyer his/ her high bid could go to auction? And, what' s the big deal with this? It's not that much time and this is just a question.

I guess you are now barred from participating in SEDO auctions - or any purchase.

If you're talking to me I'm not barred by anything at Sedo --- I was the seller who got stung by non paying buyer, and have had several successful transactions at Sedo.

Sorry - no iinsult meant - I was responding to the person who posted that be bid and did not pay because the person selling the domain choose to put the domain up for auction.

I just received an offer for a .tv domain for $120. last week. I decided to put it up for auction. I sold the name for $601. and the buyer has already paid. I think most who give offers know that the seller can decide to auction it.

Welcome to Name Pros domain Classes.

Only one deal went unpaid.
The Sedo auctions are pretty new- how can you judge it so early?
The Sedo staff is excellent and professional.
