Hi all, i've just sent one of my domains to Sedo auction for the first time ever (I wont mention what it is as it's not my intention to spam). I was just wondering if there are any methods you guys use to attract more attention to the auction (i've obviously made use of the "external auctions" thread here at NP) any tips etc?

Alos, Sedo's help isnt very clear as to what happens at the end of the auction, how is payment processed (in basic, dumb terms) and how is the domain transferred? (in my case the domain is regged @ Godaddy).

Sorry if these questions are silly but it's the first time i've ever made a sale through Sedo.

At the end of a sedo auction, as a seller you go to the "Transfer Center" and under the tab "Transfer details" enter the registrar where the domain is currently registered. You will have to wait until the buyer has deposited the funds before you do anything else.

Once the funds are deposited Sedo will contact you with details of what to do next. This will either be to push the domain to a sedo account at the current registrar or to unlock the domain and supply the EPP code so that the domain can be transferred.

Only after Sedo confirms that the push or transfer of the domain is complete will they release the funds to you. This will be in the payment option of your choice that you should have filled out under "Payment Details".

Getting back to your initial question........ A link in your signature , similar to mine although yours would obviously be to the auction, would help. :)

Depending on the domain, you could also contact potential end-users to get them interested. You can start by doing a Google search, and contacting everyone in the sponsored results. Then contact the sites that show up in the first few pages of organic search results. Then contact people who own similar domains and have developed them, such as singular vs. plural, hyphenated vs. non-hyphenated, alternate extensions, etc. It can be a lot of work, but if your domain has decent end user potential it could be worth the effort.

One other idea is to list your other domains for sale in the auction text, to attract more potential buyers. The domains *should* automatically link to the sedo listing for those domain names. Make sure you say something like "Please see these additional domain listings" or something similar to make it clear that you're not including any other domains with the one being auctioned.

Good luck with your auction!

Werry well said. I suppse you need to invite people with some more interesting titles, so do not be lazty and work over them

This works very well and if nothing else you will see a big increase in views to your other domains.
One thing you need to be aware of, the text cannot be changed once the domain is on auction. Any comments/domains you want to add should be done before you send to auction.

Good Luck, my first sedo auction yielded me 3x the initial offer price, and the buyer paid right away, which was not the case in my last 3 sedo auctions, I have had trouble as of late getting buyers to pay, not sure why they offer if they do not want to pay, last buyer offered me XXXX'K for a .net accepted offer right away, been 2 months, and after a legal letter, buyers memory was rejogged to his offer and the contractual obligation, sedo will not enforce the buyer to pay, as some buyers get offended if you send it to auction, and will not complete the deal, be careful.
