NNNN.com or 3 character .com??

Hi!
Over the past few months I have noticed a bit of increased interest in the NNNN.com market. I will point out now that this is only in my personal experience and not a claim to the market as a whole necessarily.

What i was wondering is if I am missing something about these domains? They seem to sell upwards of at least $150 atm and i don't really appreciate why, in comparison to say a 3 character .com. I would have thought a 3 character .com would have had more value at a basic level.

I am speaking in very general terms and am obviously not talking about 1234.com vs mp3.com but more like the 6734.com (eg) vs 8sr.com (eg). I.e. the 'standard' 4N.coms and 3char.coms with no immediately obvious end user.

i appreciate there are less NNNN.coms, but surely they are not easier to remember than a 3 char and are longer too? There fore i am assumoing there s something about the NNNN.com market that I am missing and was hoping somebody could enlighten me?

Thanks
:)

3 of the 20 most popular chinese websites are 163.com, 3721.com, 17173.com. NNNN.com are very popular because of the chinese traffic they bring and the potential for making a good chinese website.

Number names again are popular with the asian surfers. Much easier to remember digits then english letters

Haven't updated the "NUMB3RS" thread in awhile, but maybe it can answer some of your questions: >>> LINK <<<

Wow. This is good to know. I had no idea. How many 4-digit combinations can you make out of 10 numbers?

Plz be careful to invest if you are not a Chinese Native speaker :]

Those numbers have some special meaning / pronunciation for us (I am chinese :talk: )

Just for a example:

"178" means "Let do it together", but "748" means "You go to hell"

Of course, most NNN or NNNN don't have any special meaning for us at all

P.S: 163.com <-- 163 is the 1st tel Number in China used for internet Dial-up Connection
3721.com <-- "3721" means "Anything that happened"
17173.com <-- "17173" means "let us use internat together"

not really heard of NNNN.com

but they do worth if it's symbolic, literally or figuratively. 6699, 168,163 ,8888, are more of the red hot one.
