Hi everybody. My names Walter and this is my first time here. I found this website while searching for domains. I never registered a domain before and I would like to know which is the cheapest one and what is the best one and what ones everybody uses. Thanks

Hi Walter, welcome to NP! There are many different registrars out there, but one of the cheapest retail sites around right now is www.godaddy.com -- just $7.95 for .com names!

1. www.Namecheap.com - 8.88$
2. www.rackshack.net / www.ev1servers.net - 6.49$
3. www.gkg.net - 9.95$

Cheap: www.myvaluehost.com $4 each and they are an OpenSRS reseller just like ev1.

Reality: Anything less that $10 in my opinion is a good deal. Less than a dollar a month. Less than a Pizza Hut Pizza. Less than a tank of gas. I have about 9 accounts with different registrars. My favorite: eNom!

Thanks everybody I registered my first doman today at Godaddy.com but I still trying to find out how to do these dns server things lol. I am using free hosting at netfirms.com and I set my nameservers as instructed but my site still doesnt show up!

I have had DNS propogation take 72 hours before so realize it does take time.

I saw eNom mentioned once. Somebody should say that you will probably see eNom recommend more than any other registrar. Reason: SERVICE. Usually a little more money, but with great features and dependabilty. Get yourself an eNom account.

Your gonna need to explain that one Jeffrey. DNS propagation is DNS propagation. Anywhere between 24 to 72 hours regardless of the host.

I have used ev1 and goDaddy for many domains and no problems whatsoever. GoDaddy has cheap .us and .biz registrations, ev1 is cheaper for .com's.

There are many domain registry that offer registration services. As business owner, I prefer long term relationship not a price difference of $1 or $3 in domain name registration.

As yourself, what is your long term objective of buying a domain name. For personal use only or business use. For personal use, you can register to any domain name registry from $7.99 to $19.99 per year. For business, you may consider if you can create reseller account under your current account ID and keep the commission. Check for built-in reseller packages, etc.
