Hello everyone,

I have 3 domains that I purchased on GoDaddy, hoping to list them in a 7-day auction. However, I just found out today that they no longer offer auctions.

Since I have absolutely no experience in selling domains, and these are the first 3 domains I’ve ever bought, I would really appreciate advice from those willing to help on how and where I could list them for sale, with the best chance of actually selling them.

A friend of mine bought a domain a few years ago and listed it on GoDaddy for a fixed price. However, after a year when the domain expired, the stats showed that literally no one had even seen the domain. He was the only one who knew it was for sale.

So I would really appreciate advice on the most effective way to get my domains more visible for sale and increase my chances of selling them.

Again, I’d like to emphasize that I’m a beginner and don’t understand much about this process, so the simpler the explanation, the better I’ll understand it. :)

Thank you to anyone willing to guide me on what to do.

User listed auctions like the one you're looking for won't get the same bids like an expired auction. Perfect example is Sedo's Great Domains auctions. See how much domains sell for there.

if you do want to list for auction then be prepared to spend more $$ to promote it on blogs / sites featured on domaining.com. Spending money on promotion doesn't mean you'll get bids. Even quality domains that are listed for auction fail to receive bids.

Like Johnn have said, learn about domain investing before buying any more domains. And list the ones you had bought already for sale at Atom,Afternic, And Sedo with a BIN.

Here's what's out there:
Aftermarket.com

Afternic.com

Atom.com

Bandbucket.com

Brandpa.com

Daaz.com

DomainEasy.com

GBM.domains

Saw.com

Sedo.com

Subscription based:
Sudos.com
Demo: NameBamboo.com
Efty.com
Demo: Swetha.xyz/Oxley.ccom

Forums / 0% free landers:
NP
Bodis

For wholesale to domain investors:
Sedo.com
DNWE.com (For selling to investors)
Dynadot.com
Namesilo.com
GBM.domains

This isn't a full list, there are more companies out there.

I don’t agree with you.
I have browsed this forum and saw that it is an oasis of knowledge with many experts.

That’s why I decided to seek ADVICE here – where to list my domains, whether there are other auction sites where I could try.

I am a beginner, but I’m sure I didn’t ask a most difficult question.
For example, instead of immediately telling me in other words to "learn it myself," you could have given me advice on whether it’s better to start auctions on sites like Sedo, Flippa, etc., or whether it’s better to pay for promotion to make my domain more visible, etc.
After all, how will I learn if I don’t ask?

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I will wait for someone else in the hope that they will have advice that will be useful to me.

Sorry my mistake. I did not know you are smart.
When I learn more about domains, I will reach out to teach you as well.
Until then, read my previous response again.

And eventually, read, write, and discuss some other topics. In other words, go and bother someone else.

3 domains only are not enough as you will need a few more. Just add your domains at Sedo, Parkingcrew, Afternic, Godaddy , Bodis and see what happens. You can also email websites of similar domain name theme and see if they want to buy the domain(s).

Hi,
I'm not sure about auctions, but there's lots of discussion about different
Best thing to do is read as much as you can, and don't buy too many names while you're learning.

Welcome to np, good luck (y)
Thank you very much for your response sir.

I will read it and hopefully figure it out.

I will follow your advice and won’t buy more domains until I see how these three perform. :)

Could you just tell me what you think about the auctions here on the forum? I’ve seen that some people are selling there as well, so I’d love to hear your opinion on that.

Best regards, and all the best!

It is not easy to sell, because they are plenty domains out there. Auctions also are not so effective.

Promoting is also not easy either. So basically you must be really lucky.

For the advice you can check my website. I present my 21 domains in the landing page.

Don't worry there will be many people to say bad things about your domains, just ignore.

I mostly invest on gaming domains, so this is my niche.

Good luck in your journey.

Sorry, I've never been involved in any.

From a practical standpoint, what is the best current solution for listing a domain name at auction? And why do truly successful solutions seem so elusive?

Thank you for your response and advice. I’ve never visited those sites, but I’ll Google them and check them out, and hopefully, I’ll figure it out.

Could you just tell me, if I list the domains for sale on those sites with a Buy Now price, will potential buyers only see them if they are specifically searching for that particular domain, or will they be visible to a broader audience (without paid advertising on my part)?

Also, I’d appreciate it if you could share your thoughts on auctioning domains, as I’ve seen that it’s possible to do so here on the forum as well.

You know actually this is very good idea. Thus you can contact with them directly.

For example engine. Com has been acquired by hotel engine. Com

Hi

best advice, learn how to use the forums "search function"
enter any phrase or term and review the results.
then write down what you don't understand and ask those questions on the forum.
vague questions get vague answers, specific questions get the best replies.

if you really want to learn, then it's better to feed yourself, rather than being spoon fed.

anyone one of us could tell you exactly what you want to hear, but who will tell you what you need to know?

as for your 3 names.

it doesn't matter whether you list them for sale in auction or as make offer or as buy it now, because it all depends on the "actual names" that you own.
learn what kind of names to buy, first, before thinking about trying to sell any.

imo....

I wouldn't hope on showcases on Domaining.com, Namebio.com, GoDaddy.

Tried. Nothing.

I even advertised one of my domains at DNJournal, and no sale, no inquiry.

Nemanja welcome on this forum.
What I learned in my only one month in domaining is summarized in the following decalogue:

1) In this forum there are people present here from 20 years (yes!), 15, 10, 5, years. Obviously they know domainging very well. Those people never will reveal the secret of their success to anyone.
2) What works for one, maybe it doesn't work for another, and what works today, maybe it doesn't work tomorrow.
3) There is a difference between a domainer and an investor.
4) There are companies of investors who are directly partners with Registrars, this means that they eat up the best DNs (one word, 3-4L, dictionary words) before any other small, single domainer.
5) In this forum there are many of those registrars, investors, and companies. You should read not only the answers, but even the profile and links below the replies.
6) It's not enough listing on auctions (any and everywhere) or on marketplaces to sell. Promoting is very important. Domaining is like any other online marketing. Having a good and competitive product and makes it known to the greatest number of people with every tool and strategy.
7) In the beginning, it is better to start with a few names and see what happens. Don't spend too much money if you don't know where you're going.
8) Compare, compare, and compare, names on different marketplaces and registrars, and auctions, etc.
9) Experiment auctions, but also "Buy Now". Avoid "Make an offer" by yourself if you are not able to negotiate, or being paid with escrow, etc.
10) Add what you want.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain your observations in such detail, it’s very kind and nice of you, and I really appreciate it sir.

For now, I only have 3 and I won’t be buying more until see how things unfold with them...

I wish you success in your business and great domain sales!

It is definitely wise to start slow, so impressed with your plan.

I am not quite clear why you are focussed on auctions, versus Buy It Now or Make Offer listings. Is it that you feel compelled to sell quickly? If not, I would list your names on the main marketplaces, like Sedo or Afternic or others, and make sure that you have a working lander for each name. NamePros have nice free landers so that is an option too. While GoDaddy no longer allow user auctions, as you mentioned, if you list the name on Afternic as buy-it now or make offer they will show up on the GoDaddy Auctions site.

If you feel your names are ones that someone else might decide on and want, for example a name that is a service or product or phrase, then probably 50% of the chances from selling will come from a lander.

If your name is not in that category, then it is unlikely to sell that way, and you will need to consider other avenues. You may find the article: Does Anyone Know That They Want This Domain Name helpful.
https://www.namepros.com/blog/does-anyone-know-that-they-want-this-domain-name.1330677/

I am not sure whether you have decided whether you want to hold out to sell the names retail to an end user who will use it for a site, or if you are open to selling for a lower price to another domain investor potentially. If the latter, there are good opportunities to sell here on NamePros. You can sell using auctions, fixed price, bargain bin, make offer, etc. Make sure that you read and follow all rules before you list.

Welcome to NamePros @Nemanja16 and very best wishes for success in domaining and finding it interesting and challenging.

Thank you so much for your detailed advice and for taking the time to help me out sir.

To be honest, the reason I initially focused on auctions was because, as a beginner, I had the impression that I could sell domains quickly.

I saw some domains on GoDaddy going for hundreds or thousands of euros, and I thought it would be that simple.
Now I realize there's a lot more to it. :)

I will check out the article you mentioned to gain more knowledge...
