Network solutions annoying 3 day wait

Is it just me? Or has network solutions gone from "OK" to "NOT OK". I requested the authorization code for a domain name I sold and need to transfer to the new owner. So I completed the usual steps to request the code which usually just takes 5 minutes to arrive to the whois email address. But this time I encountered a message saying I will get the code in "3 days". This is where things started to look ugly. Anyways I waited the 3 days and still no code! So today I called network solutions and had to spent my valuable time going back and forth requesting the code. Then the sales rep was insisting on me sharing who my buyer was to call them and convince to stay with network solutions. Very very annoying as I don't see why I have to waste time and energy begging for something that belongs to me nor share private client info so they get annoying sales calls... I finally got it after insisting on the code but I no longer like network solutions now! What do you think about this?

I really dislike registrars that don't automatically send auth codes on request.

Surprising in this day, there are still a few out there that make you wait for them to manually send it out.

NetSol always was rather fast on sending codes and now you need to answer on some questions and than wait for 3 days for a code.
When you're asking for a code they are also offering a discount renew optiion (mine was 7 EUR and some cents)

Same for me this week.
I transferred 2 domains to Godaddy. First think you can find is the offer anti-transfer. From the 30โ‚ฌ cost to renew a domain to 7โ‚ฌ offer when iniciated proccess is iniciated. Then, they send the auth code by mail, wich is annoying. I sent a mail to support just a second later I make the petition for security. I received the codes 3 days after.

Network Solutions used to have a better system. It seems like they have implemented the Register.com (Another Web.com company) AUTH code process. This is a recent change and very frustrating.

It is not like anyone is going to change their mind in those (3) days, but it sure is a bottleneck in the process that is pissing off a lot of people.

For this same reason, I've avoided register.com for years now. I wouldn't like to avoid netsol for their great expiring auctions but I will consider this when bidding. They do bring more expiring domains than register... I guess there are trying to avoid losing so many customers and domains getting transferred away to places like godaddy. But even that process would piss a customer and not just domainers..

I think a better way of achieving that goal is to start charging competitive prices. Making people pissed off will likely lead to far greater customer loss.

I have seen multiple people complaining about this on social media sites.

Yeah. Lately I've seen many registrars going downhill and godaddy getting more popular than ever. Also noticing many registrar consolidations or change in partnerships with drop catching companies. I think godaddy is killing them all with their pricing... But godaddy's customer service is great as well in my opinion so it's not just the pricing. When I called netsol, the system didn't recognize my account number and ended up about 2-3 times on a dead end saying "please call again later"...

I believe NetSol still has a large base of corporate customers who probably don't flinch at their regular prices and leave auto-renew on, or do 10 years at a time.

But it's likely all the registrars have to be feeling the GoDaddy crunch - Ask anyone on the street, where do you go for domains - 99% of the time, you'll probably here them say GoDaddy, all thanks to their marketing.

That's unbelievably crazy. Other registrars should take this opportunity to exploit this craziness from their competitors and attract customers to choose them instead.

I am crossing out Network Solutions now for eternity.

... and they have the best Control Panel. The biggest pain for me is their Checkout. But I don't think they are very domainer friendly.

I have this same problem. . .
It's been 3 days and I have not received my authcode.

All you have to do is call there customer service and tell them you sold the domain and the other party wants to move it. You will have your authorization code before you hang up the phone. This is true for Register.com and Network Solutions...both web.com companies.

I literally request the code and call them a minute later.....

diaster!! i have sent them a ticket to adapt themselves to new world. 5+ years ago it was not easy to transfer away domains, obviously netsol did not adapt themselves.

Read the post above yours from @Debt.tv. They have ways of making your transfers easy, if you follow their procedures. I agree. Going thru 5 or 6 pages just to unlock a domain and requesting an auth code could be reduced to 1 page. But then they are NetSol/Web.com. They seem to have a perverse pleasure in making life difficult for domain owners ;)

I don't use them.

Heard many bad things recently and they always do poorly in polls about good or bad registrars.

One thing I always try to do when I reg a new name is to find the auth code if I can and make a note of it.

I either have it sent immediately or look for it in my account.

Either way I try to get it early so I will have it later if I need it.
