Per ICANN, once a domain expires, an email must be sent within 5 days.

Namecheap sent me an email 6 days later to "Moorthy" was the first name on the email and it didn't even have my real name, which is 3 letters long. Also, didn't even mention what domain expired. They sent the email to apologize for a system error.

So, they want me to still pay $40 instead of the $88.88 they originally said I need to pay for the "redemption fee".

I filed a complaint with ICANN this morning. I let Namecheap know that. They checked their logs and admit that they didn't send the email within 5 days after the domain expired.

Does anybody have any experience with filing an ICANN complaint and/or this kind of issue?

It's black and white, Namecheap didn't do what they were supposed to and they admit it. They should eat this fee. Their fault, not mine!! I have over 30+ days before the domain actually would drop too.

I hadn't logged into NamePros for over 4 years until today!

I got out of domain buying on speculation when GoDaddy stopped all of their coupons.

Now, I own 100+ domains for customers.

    Thanks in advance!! :)

Update: Namecheap waived all of the fees and I renewed that domain for the 1-year renewal fee of $13.16!

Didn't want to push my luck and ask if I could use a coupon ;)
