Hi NamePros community,

I need to share my experience with Namecheap Marketplace and get some advice from fellow domain investors.

What happened:

I sold 3 domains on Namecheap Marketplace on February 28, 2026. After 7 days, the funds were released to my account as normal. Everything seemed fine.

Then, 40+ days later, Namecheap suddenly reversed all 3 sales without any prior notification. I only found out by accidentally checking my email.

The evidence I found:

After investigating, I discovered the buyer had already:

  • Implemented 301 redirects on all 3 domains
  • According to Semrush, one domain alone had 420 organic keywords ranking in Google with an estimated traffic value of $44,300/month
  • According to Ahrefs, 128+ backlinks had already been redirected to the buyer's target site
  • A multi-tier redirect chain was constructed within 12 days of purchase

In other words, the buyer extracted the full SEO value of these assets before the reversal.

Namecheap's explanation:

When I contacted Risk Management (Ticket: NC-PTX-0071), they said:

"The sales were reversed as the buyer's account failed verification."

This makes no sense because:

  1. The same buyer had successfully purchased 40+ domains from me over multiple transactions since late 2024 - all completed without issue
  2. Namecheap released the funds after 7 days, implying the transaction was finalized
  3. If verification failed, why did it take 40+ days to discover this?
  4. The domains returned to me are now worthless - their SEO value has been completely extracted via 301 redirects

My questions for the community:

  1. Has anyone experienced a similar reversal after funds were already released?
  2. Is "buyer account failed verification" a known loophole being exploited on Namecheap Marketplace?
  3. What is the best course of action - ICANN complaint? Chargeback dispute with evidence?

I have submitted full evidence including Semrush and Ahrefs screenshots to Namecheap Risk Management but have received no satisfactory resolution.

This feels like Namecheap is protecting a fraudulent buyer at the expense of a good-faith seller who has completed 40+ successful transactions on their platform.

Any advice appreciated.
