Name.com - renew for regular fee on day 42

I was just in my account at Name.com and noticed something that I have not seen before. I have a couple names that I was letting go of but I can still renew them for the normal $10 fee even though it's on day 42 after expiration. No $80 redemption fee like Godaddy charges. Always transferred them out if I decided to keep them but I find it interesting that there is no added cost. Just pay the 10 bucks and keep it in your account. Godaddy really needs to adopt this policy.

Are expired name.com domains put up for auction before or after day 42? Differently than most other registrars that run in-house expired domain auctions, you get the domain instantly after buying in name.com's dutch auction system (owner obviously cannot redeem the name at that point, unlike what he can do at GD for 5-7 days after auction end).
