we’re excited to announce that we are launching a new investor pricing program that starts on july 1, 2010! This is something many of you have been asking for and we are very happy to be able to offer it to our loyal customers. The details of the program are as follows:

  • you only need a minimum of 25 domains in your account to qualify as a domain investor.
  • there is no monthly or yearly charge to receive this investor pricing, it is based solely on the number of domains you have with name.com.
  • higher levels of the program will include free private whois on the entire account.
  • official pricing will be revealed on july 1, 2010.

Sounds great! What do you think?

Name.com is a registrar that understands domaining, They are trying to lower the price for domainers to buy up domains before the price increase.

I think they are going to maintain the current $8.99 price on investors

miss the old $5 name.com :(

What would the point be? Prices will increase soon but not by that much & even with the increase, you could probably still reg a domain @ GoDaddy cheaper via one of their perennial sales (they always have coupon codes, 24/7/365).

I think they are going to maintain the current $8.99 price on investors

miss the old $5 name.com :(

BTW .net used to be $2.99 at RegisterFly, back when they were worth using.

Name.com seem to at least seem interested in looking out for the average domineer. But I agree with the previous poster (the guy with the strangest signature I have seen in a while) that gd will always out price name.com with their promo pricing.

Very true. I really don't foresee name.com ever meeting (let alone beating) GoDaddy's pricing.

BTW The sig is more or less a joke lol I'll revert it back to my original on 7/1.

Wow, sounds awesome. Though i do wish they have a tighter security something like Dynadot has. For their other specs they are better than most of the other registrars.

It states the following on the linked page:

our new price for .COM and .NET registrations will be $9.99

but the page is a bit confused because it states it will not announce the pricing until July 1st.

$9.99 will be the normal price (for non-resellers), as a result of the increase by ICANN. We currently don't know the new price for resellers, which is expected to be comparable to GoDaddy's (around $7).

I've been constantly juggling my names around between GoDaddy, Name and DynaDot in order to get the best pricing via transfer-ins and special promo codes etc. I'd like to be loyal, but at the end of the its business and if I can save $300-$400+ per year by moving around then its worth the time.

Saying that, if Name.com offered a price that wasn't more than about $0.50 higher than say GD, then I'd definitely stick with them. They are my top 2 registrars (Dyna being the other) so really hoping their pricing structure will be good.

:)

Maybe it's just me but I don't really care about comparable pricing. I've always preferred GD and if name.com wasn't the hands-down best priced registrar, they likely wouldn't see me regging much there. I have a name.com account but I can't recall ever registering a single domain with them.

So have the release the new special prices for people over 25 domains? I still see $9.99 registration although I have more than xxx domains there

Hey everyone,

We are going to launch our Investor Club program later today, but I wanted to give a couple details in response to a few posts here and clear up any misconceptions.

Our new program allows you to signup for the Investor Club and receive special unpublished pricing promotions vs. changing pricing for each customer. We feel this is better option for us to tailor promotions depending on what extensions you invest in, keep the program free, and allow any customer who has 25 or more domains to get involved.

We will always strive to be as price competitive as possible, and we urge our customers and potential customers to look at the total cost of ownership for their entire portfolio when comparing pricing between registrars.

Let me know if you guys have any questions.

Thanks,

Paul Carter

What rate will investors have? I've just secured a $8.37 special-rate from a leading registrar.

@XDuncan We are going to guarantee that the monthly promotions are at least 10% less than our retail price, but historically we tend to offer promotions with higher discounts than that. With this program we'll be able to decide on a month to month basis how to offer the most competitive price to our investors, especially if you are investing in other TLD's besides com and net.

As a side note, the last day of the month we ran a $5.99 com/net special all day. While it's not likely we'll run a promo at that price again, we'll be more likely to offer specials like this to our investor club going forward.
