I'm confused... is this just the pricing at one registrar or ALL registrars selling .org. This seems like a pretty big price increase that I don't see mentioned on other sites.

Currently I paid something like $10 / year for .orgs.

Here is the e-mail I just got an hour ago:

Dear Customer (username),

We are writing to inform you that Public Interest Registry (PIR), the Registry Operator for the .ORG domain, will be increasing its annual registration/transfer and renewal price for .ORG TLD. As a result of this, eNom will raise pricing for the .ORG domain name extension which will be reflected within your account on July 31st. Based on your account tier, your new .ORG pricing will be:

New .ORG Pricing

Registration Transfer-in Renewal
$14.75 $14.75 $16.16
The purpose of this notification is to inform you of the upcoming price increase and give you advance notice should you want to renew any names ahead of the price changes. If you have any questions related to the price increase, please contact us at425.974.4689 or submit a ticket to our support team through your account.

Sincerely,

eNom Support Team

got it only from whois registrar so far.
when I asked manager at godaddy he said he knows nothing of it.

could be registrar specific.

appears whois+enom may be only 2 so far.

anyone else welcome to add more names to this "stay away from" registrar list.

$9.63/year reg/renew/transfer at Porkbun. Same as it has been.

Could be registrar specific.

As I already said above: + $0.87 for all registrars from Aug'1.
So don't waste your time - transfer...

I got that information from Hexonet.net as usual... they inform about all changes from Registries monthly...

didn't original poster just make point the price increase is a big one.. from 10 to ~15

how does this ~5$ difference correspond to your 87cents fixed registry increase?

It not corresponds...
And I don't use eNom at all... about all your concerns - ask them directly.
But Registry's increase is $0.87 ONLY.

euh.. well. that's my point.. it's either 87cent registry increase for all registrars.. or it's ~5$ for whichever registrar feels like ripping you off even more than they already are.

so no.. there is no www 87cent org increase.
cause for some it seems to be $5.. and for some its nothing.

next.

The e-mail caught me by surprise.. because recently I have started developing .org domains into web sites.. I like .org sites for serious content.. but personally I really don't want to pay an extra $5 - $6 per year / per name.. that seems too expensive (especially when .coms are around $9). I hope that it's only 0.87 or hopefully it's even just registrar specific.. I'm happy to move my domains away to a different registrar to save $6 / year per name.

eNom's prices are awful traditionally, nothing new for me.

@brandnow we have the same eMail announcing the increase. If your cost is currently around 10.00 you may be stuck at a dated .org price level. Have you made any recent purchases at that price? The issue was uncovered when eNom retail accounts under resellers could not process .org renewals as their cost was frozen below even eNom's price. We had a lot of unhappy customersโ€ฆ

Our current cost is 11.48 moving up to 12.57

The lowest transfer is domain.com + promocode.

I don't see any change from Godaddy, just still $7.99 for .org domain.

Thinking of transferring important developed domains there.

$9.63/year reg/renew/transfer at Porkbun. Same as it has been.

Could be registrar specific.

Developing on .ORG is waaay better in many situations. :)

I'm probably going to switch most of my domains over to Porkbun when it gets close to them expiring. Then I'll transfer. Saves me $2/.com and $4/.net. They have some amazing prices.
