My Godaddy DDC (Discount Domain Club) is up for renew $239.88

What are the good reasons for me to renew instead of tranfer the names to other registrars?

It really comes down to your volume. If you buy a lot of auction names there and/or have a large portfolio, it may be better to renew DDC. You have to do the math of DDC divided by domain count plus DDC registration cost and compare that to the competitor's registration cost. For me it was about even and the final consideration was just my disgust at the pricing models and Afternic percentages and I just don't want to support all that any more than necessary.

Personally, after many, many years, I moved all my names to Dynadot. Just transferred out the last one today.

I do not buy at auction and I have over 1,000 names

Then DDC costs you .24 per name. Add that to the DDC discount registration cost and compare it to what others charge. I think the DDC renewal rate at GoDaddy for a .com is now 10.99 - add .24 cents and you are at 11.23. Dynadot , as an example, is 10.88. In this instance, you would save $350 a year by moving.

That's what I am thinking.
GD just jack up the price so they can benefit from DDC fees.
I don't have to pay anything at Dynadot and the price is cheaper.
Services at Dynadot is not bad.

If you don't buy from GoDaddy Auctions and Closeouts and don't care about Afternic Self-brokerage, there is ZERO reasons to renew the subscription.

I think what GD should do is eliminate the DDC and reduce the price like other registrars. They may get more customers and more profit.

What is the reason to jack the price up and ask the customers paying fees for discount? This sounds like they are cheating the customers.

The reason is that it's good for financial reporting to shareholders.

See their definitions here:

Average revenue per user (ARPU). We calculate ARPU as total revenue during the preceding 12 month period divided by the average of the number of total customers at the beginning and end of the period. ARPU provides insight into our ability to sell additional products to customers, though the impact to date has been muted due to our continued growth in total customers.

Total customers. We define a customer as an individual or entity with paid transactions in the trailing twelve months or with paid subscriptions as of the end of the period. A single user may be counted as a customer more than once if they maintain paid subscriptions or transactions in multiple accounts. Total customers is one way we measure the scale of our business and is an important part of our ability to increase our revenue base.

It's only good by definition. The real number of customers and domains will tell the true.
Beside the DDC they also invented Afternic Boost which does not seem to work.

Anyhow they just lost one more customer.

They're hyperaggressively pushing this DDC thing on everyone.

What does the wife say??

Iโ€™ll throw my two cents in anyway: Dynadot is a great registrar (as a marketplace, though, itโ€™s pretty shitty).
But I definitely think Dynadot, as a registrar beats GD by a country mile (who's marketplace with Afternic you still perfectly use).

Still more expensive. No saving.

Go to Dynadot. They do like domainers. Your portfolio will feel more appreciated there.

Godaddy UX is one of the worst anywhere. I moved about 200 out, two years back or so, one of the best decisions.

Transfer them. That way you have a 60 day lock.

GoDaddy's had 28 years - a very long time - to engage and please us. The past decade seemed at best two steps forward and nearly two steps back. Never expect mega-corporate favors... we must pay for them to smile, just to get a ghastly grin. ๐Ÿ’ฉ
