My first legitimate offer

I have received my first legitimate offer on a domain name and I have a few questions.

I have read previously where there are some rather crafty brokers who set themselves up as a mom&pop type operation - in that they will contact you via hotmail etc. This person certainly fits that profile. She contacted me from a hotmail account and gave a phone number. After researching the number I can't find any record of her existence either in white page listing or using Google (not that this is a fool proof method - but it counts for something).

She has already registered the .net version of the domain she is enquiring on and has an ecommerce site up on that domain.

My question is this - if I am going to make a sale should I go ahead and register the .info domain as a way to hedge against giving the domain away at a low price to a broker with some deep pockets and big plans for the domain in question?

TIA

If someone is offering on your domains (at a decent price), I would buy up all of the other major extensions if the person is looking to develop.

Why don't you just dial the number?

If i'm just a domain trader with no intention of developing i would stick with .com and dictate the price. Don't waste your money on all other TLD's, it just makes u look like cheap 2nd class domain trader who trying to rip ppl off.

Stick with your .com and dictate the price. Even Microsoft can't market their site without .com.

PS: don't forget to wish them good luck on their Endeavour.

Thanks for all the feedback.

cfguru, I have no doubt the number is real. The question is whether or not the person's identity is real.

Try googleing the person's name; if nothing comes up at all, that could be a problem.
You might post part of the text of the offer, just so we can see if it's similar to any type of offer we've received before (just for confirmation).
