Hi there,

What are the most popular extensions for say something with world wide appeal like a film.

So obviously thehobbit.com would be #1 but what would be next? and would it command any sort of value?

.com is king, of course. Next I would say .net and .org.

Definitely .com extension is on peak, but it will depend on your nature of business for example if a non-profit organization want to start online presence they will buy .org extension and if internet and computer relevant company going to start online business they should be interested in .net domain.

Next would be thehobbitmovie.com Generally speaking you go .com, .net and .org as the top three most recognizable extensions. But you try and grab a .com whenever possible even if it means adding an extra word like "movie" or "film" to your name. People just naturally assume that a domain name they heard on the radio or read about somewhere is a .com. It's just the way it is.
