I'm starting the official Mixed Reality thread. With Microsoft and others pushing for this phrase some of us are hoping to benefit. This is where we discuss and show case our domains.

Rob Scoble has just announced that he's heard rumours Samsung are working on a mixed reality phone too.

According to his various sources both Apple & Samsung are working on mixed reality phones

Hopefully samsung tests there battery capacity better especially if it is some type of headset/glasses with the phone incorporated into it strapped to your head lol

Apparently mate, we are going to see a new technology with batteries. Apple will definitely be using this new battery technology because they are rumoured to be bringing out a clear iphone that you can see completely through.

Guesses are samsung will also be aware of this new tech advancement and will also be jumping on board.

The battery is so small it can fit in a small strip at the bottom of a phone.

I have heard this is a massive breakthrough in the battery industry

Yes that glass bodyis going to be completely transparent.

The battery will be either at the top or bottom of the phone.

Magic Leap is rumored to be unveiling their product in 2017 (although the company has said specifically it won’t happen at CES 2017 in January).

The big problem with magic leaps device is how will the device cope outside in general light environment as all posted videos are scripted in regards to light and position.

The technology lightfield needs to be lent to certain lighting environments to be affective .

As outside the device will struggle in a non scripted lighting environment.

Yes totally mate.

Thats why they are going to start testing outside. I am pretty sure though that they would have been working on ways to address this problem for a long time.

I suppose it is just about testing it now in an extensive range of conditions to see how it performs.

With the backing and money they have had I am pretty sure this would be something that they are already confident about.

They wouldn't get this far down the line and all of a sudden think, will this work outside (well I hope not anyway lol)

a side note about Magic Leap and Microsoft

some people are saying that only a few companies are using MR to describe the tech and that in google trends your hardly notice it ... what people forget is that those companies havent done a single move regarding consumers and PR about the tech and the term ...

and that those companies are

1)Magic leap - which basically got more funding that all VR AR companies combined to build their tech
the biggest startup in history.
funded by alibaba &google that will embrace the term .
2) Microsoft that already said that MR is the future of microsoft .
Microsoft got Windows 10 which is the biggest OS in the world +as i said before , all of the agencies working with micorost are already embracing MR ...

the future is bright .

I know you are invested into AR so even though you might not have MR cover, having AR cover is a smart enough move.

People keep mentioning in the VR thread that VR will cover AR and MR.

But I am quite confident when I say VR, AR & MR will be three seperate techs each having their own individual benefits.

It will be 3 separate techs (first phase) but its more important that we will see consumers looking at it as seperate tech
And i believe they will as millennials were born into a tech world so it will be obvious that distinctions are needed.
But, we must all pay attention that for Microsoft and magic leap MR is the end goal, so future devices will be able to do both AR+VR

Yes agreed Elad but mixed reality is a tech in it's own right as well. Mixed Reality is a blend of parts of VR & parts of AR + Much more

So whilest I agree that mixed reality headsets will eventually be capable of doing VR & AR. They will also be capable of doing the new upcoming reality known as mixed reality.

I think people think that a mixed reality headset is just something that can do VR & AR.

But the truth is MR is a completely seperate tech again

These headsets will eventually be capable of doing VR + AR + MR.

That is the only reason I try to seperate them into three categories.

Microsoft has revealed to the world tonight its plans for making mixed reality mainstream in 2017 and how it managed to get Windows 10 – the full OS – to run phone hardware (Windows 10 on ARM). That's a lot of info to digest with a ton of implications for where technology is going in next year.
