Mixed Reality domains

I'm starting the official Mixed Reality thread. With Microsoft and others pushing for this phrase some of us are hoping to benefit. This is where we discuss and show case our domains.

I still think of the term information and technology which got universal adoption as ( it ) . Say to some who works in this field what do they do for a living they all say i work in ( it ) .

I bet when this term was first coined many people thought it would be easily misunderstood but time changes many things and many perceptions.

Yeah but 'Mr' also means a man. Just my opinion, but it sounds silly next to various keywords in domain names, would future Mixed Reality companies want the name of their companies to called mrp*rn, mrtravel, mrgirls etc? (say these words out loud) I can't see it personally.

Also in 5 years, when people say VR will be glasses rather than bulky thing it is now and Mixed Reality is already glasses, how will you be able to disguish between both devices? The public don't like to be confused so from a marketing pov things will be simplifed.

Personally i can see all devices being classed as VR and only the real geeks will know HoloLens is actually Mixed Reality.

VR + AR = MR

This definetely isn't a tech word.

Microsoft will be branding MR
Google will be branding MR
CastAR will be branding MR
Magic Leap will be branding MR
Apple iphone will be mixed reality (but they could use another terminology that only a few people are invested in)

Plus many other companies. Like I said I have seen all the evidence.

The public will know what mixed reality is and it will be a searchable end user term.

This isn't NPrs opinions, this is the most important people in the VR industry. Even companies such as Facebook regret buying Oculas and have admited their future will move towards mixed reality.

Very good point actually.

I guess time will tell, as said though, big fan of Mixed Reality as a tech (still a poor mans Merged :P), but yeah everyone has their own theories in how it will be marketed, see what happens in the future.

Since it's VR and AR (which one can also use to refer to an assault rifle), I think it's likely to be MR. Who uses "mister" anyway these days? :P

Of course, it's speculation, but that's how it is.

Article uses the term mixed reality but seems to be referring to what recently has been coined 'merged reality'. Reinforces my belief that the term 'merged reality' wont have legs and is really just a subset of mixed reality. Anyway, it's all good for 'MR'.

Not really the place to go into detail about this but Intel have set parameters of the difference between merged reality and mixed reality.

I am a huge mixed reality fan. But it is probably not right to use techie journalist who are obviously getting confused between the two keywords. Merged Reality more than likely will become nothing. But it is unfair to make that assumption before Intel have even made their next move

Articles should be quoting mixed reality at the moment really. Until Intel or one of their partners makes developement with what they class "merged reality" it really should stay dormant.

It was actually an article from June of last year - I didn't realize until I'd posted it, so I quickly edited it and replaced it with another link!
