Hello domainers,

I was just wondering which would be a better option to start a website. Need your inputs and suggestions.

For Example: e360.com

If e360.com is taken and e360.com is totally unrelated product. What would you use ?

1) e-360.com ?
OR
2) e360.net, e360.org, e360.gtld ?

Now since the hyphen separated the letter and number. I can also spell the domain as e dash 360.
I just gave this as an example. Just trying to evaluate such a hyphenated .com vs .GTLD

I am happy to be part of this forum

I am not experienced and my opinion is just an opinion. If I would be you I would look for another name available in .com and if I had no choice but e360, then I would choose e360.net.

E360.net sounds better than all others. But would be better to get .com of some other domain.

... Or give up and pick another name? :)

This is like my nightmare kinda question. It's like one of those really bad "would you rathers?" that you just don't want to answer. Each of the option gives traffic over to the established .com and you're just asking for trouble in general by not deciding on something else.

IMHO.

If I HAD to pick, e360.net would probably be my choice. Begrudgingly. LOL!

I totally agree with you. I would have completely given it up . but the .com is not my competitor at all. So makes we wonder if leaking traffic to them would matter. But with so many extensions - .net, .org, .gTLDs i was just thinking test it out with the "-".com rather than a extension. Everyone remembers only .com and being a 5 character domains. i can also pronounce or put a visual representation to the "dash"

If type in traffic is part of your strategy, you need to find another name
