    Hi,
So I have a domain that's a single keyword. A Google search with no quotes the keyword nets 17,000,000 results but the "keyword" in quotes nets 2,790,000 results. I can understand the need for putting quotes on a two keyword or even 3 keyword set but for a single keyword? Is it necessary? I'm not super techie but if we're talking a single keyword domain name. Does it really matter if we put quotes on the keyword?

Obviously I'd like to be able to say my domain gets 17,000,000 results but if this were a two word domain name I'd always put a spotlight on the fact that it gets millions in quotes.

So why would a single keyword in quotes be more important than without quotes?

full disclosure. the keyword (no quotes) as IN TITLE: Keyword nets only 120,000 results.

Can someone explain this? I don't want to be incorrect when I try to sell this domain name. Thanks.

Because it's still relevant, regardless of 1, 2 or more keywords. So like, when you search keyword without quotes, it gives all results including stuff like:
    keywords (plural)
keywordtypo123 (something that includes keyword but not limited to)

but when you use quotes, Goober looks for exact matches. So even though it's a single keyword the quotes produce a more accurate result.

Even though quotes are supposed to be exact matches, I find if you dig not too deep into some of the results, Goober tells you it's omitted the remaining 19 billion because they are very similar.. though it doesn't retract from the total count.

It is going to be a lot more relevant with quotes.

my try: it's an exact match when you put the quotes. And, without you give search engine the freedom.

    Simple:
When you search for "mywife" you only see your wife
When you search for m wife you see all the wives including your friend's wife
