First off I called because I got an email saying reminder there is a .tv renewal promotion, running til Nov 30,2007 save up to 50 % off.

I think cool, go into my account it is the same $24.95 price I regged them for in the first place. So I call the number in the email Elida Flores, very nice and very helpful person.

She says that is half off, I said no I always pay $24.95. Apparently the price for renewals is going up Dec 1 to like $35. And the $24.95 price for new is only good til DEC 31 2007. Then it going up unless they negotiate pricing.

She said ENOM has sold more .tv in 6 months then Verisign has since they bought the .tv corp combined. (Non Premium)

That renewals for .com run at 58 to 66 % where for .tv they are running at 75 to 80 %.

We discussed revenue on Channel Me and it was along the lines of something we discussed way back about Britney having an extra $20 for the month. She said we are not a traffic company it was meant to be something extra in your stocking. She also said not PPC but CPM, I said that's what I thought but the one thing about staying on the site factors in and she said it is sort of like a hodge podge, she said Google had some involvement bringing the advertisers to the table.

She said they were clear with Verisign about Premium renewals never going up while registered by the registrant.
T & C revised
These terms supercede any previous agreement you may have regarding your .TV domain registration. In addition to the terms set forth above, the following terms shall apply to registrants of .TV domain names. Premium .TV domains, shall be determined and designated Premium names by the Registry, and such Premium names are non-transferable to another registrar. Registration prices for Premium .TV domain names may vary. In addition, renewal prices for Premium .TV names may be different from the original registration price. Your premium name renewal fee will be no greater than your registration fee as long as all of the following occur 1) you renew the name, 2) VeriSign maintains its current .tv agreement with Tuvalu and 3) eNom maintains its current .tv agreement with VeriSign. eNom commits to not increase renewal fees above the registration fee for as long as the fees we pay do not increase. For .tv premium names that are not renewed (for names that are expired), eNom reserves the right to raise or lower the price of the registration fee before making it available for re-registration by someone else. The registration period for a .TV domain name is for one-year. Your registration of a domain name in the .TV top-level domain is subject to policies established or revised from time to time by the registry for such .TV domain name (".TV TLD Registry"), in its capacity as the registry for a .TV domain. The .TV's registry's current policies (".TV Registry Policies") are available for you to review at the registry web site. You agree to be bound by and comply with the applicable Registry Policies, including amendments and modifications thereto, with respect to your .TV domain Name registration. Such policies shall not alter the terms and conditions of this Agreement. To the extent there is a conflict between the Registry policies and the terms of this Agreement, the terms of this Service Agreement shall prevail. You agree that the .TV Registry has the right to enforce the .TV Registry Policies.

Interesting line she mentioned Godaddy and the sale was done to try to hurt ENOM as they saw ENOM gaining share with .tv. Another interesting line was that they focus on engineering not marketing. She said we are number 2 and do not spend money on marketing different from Godaddy who is a master marketer. She said they are about engineers giving resellers the tools to be successful.

I think it's too soon to make a bid. I assume Enom might have at least 10 years contract with Verisign.

Out of curiosity, here statement seems to imply that their contract with Verisign is coming up for renewal. And it ALSO, if you read into it, looks like they are nervous that said contract could also be coming up for grabs and GoDaddy is and has made moves and noise that they would like to take it over.

I, and this is MY OPINION, think that the extension would be much better handled by Bob Parsons. Mainly because Godaddy is a marketer, and I would like to see the tld actively marketed versus the basically silent stance of doing nothing with it.
Great post! I like their current premium system (see below).

This system could easily be modified to accommodate .TV premiums.

AGAIN, they sound too confusing to deal with.

Do they have a solid plan to follow or they make up things as they grow?

Doesnt look like they have much of a plan.

Does anybody remember signing up for Premium Auctions?

This doesnt make sense anymore and for this reason I will likely be leaving the .tv game! Im sick of it to be honest.

They obviously do NOT care about domainers, they are gearing up to be a myspace, and are wanting to capitalize on the chewing gum crowd.
DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally waking up?

NO the contract is not up, she said they were trying to negotiate the contract on new pricing for them not to run the retail side of .tv.

And made quite clear we were looking for Channel ME to be a Myspace/youtube combo two companies people and investors know very well.

Absolutely that is who they are going after with channel me and that makes perfect sense IMO

About the promo.
The first promo was set for $24.95 'till Dec31.2007
The 2nd promo was set for $19.99 'till Nov30.2007

In your sig, you mention needname where it seems to be $14.95/yr till 30 dec 07:

"PROMOTION 'till Dec. 30, 2007: Register .TV $14.95/yr and .MOBI $14.95/yr. This is to share the benefits of low domain registration. "

Yes, moreover you don't have to convinve your buyers that your names are not premium enom, because it's in moniker, or elsewhere.
He simply see the whois and it's all more clear.

Goodbye enom !

I just called Peter at MONIKER
Email him and ask him about pricing for transferring .tv domain names.

[email protected]

I have nothing against enom or channel me, I think and hope what they are doing with the tools will work, I think highly of Richard Rosenblatt and Quinn etc, as I feel the overall vision for what .tv is wonderful and I think they are bringing alot of ideas to it which i hope to see in 2008.

But I do not agree on the pricing inconsistencies, from a business standpoint I think it is not good.

Going from 19.99 to 24.95 to $35.00 and one minute having 50% off sales all while trying to relaunch the extension is bad, there is too much confusion, this should have been ironed out before May 1, 2007 and they should have stuck with the price.

Not only that, but a significant amount of money has been spent through this forum on .tv

You can not mass market an extension to non domainers at $25-35, that pricing point is to high in my opinion and will not get thousands of regs needed to push channel me.

19.99 or lower...

I believe enom.tv has created a trap as I believe you will be charged for the transfer according to their site if I am reading it right.

That's what we had before it was going to chris legatt not Peter but I think it should be fine to reference that Namepros discount

That is for transferring in

One of the cool things is that Peter set it so I can use the discount when I want to.
It wasnt like over at the other register place where it was a "take the discount now or never" sales pressure tactic.

I would rather pay a little more at MONIKER to get that type of no pressure treatment because you get treated with respect and you feel like you have someone on your side working with you.

Right MW they code your account and whenever you reg you get the discount price. ENOM does not charge you to transfer out that is the price to transfer in.

SKG, I do not see an additional fee for transferring out, could you please elaborate? I do however see $44.95 across the board...

That in itself is another example of confusion, here we have a company re launching an extension through enom.tv but the price on there chart is different from the other prices listed lol

Ok EQ cool, I went ahead and emailed Peter so we can find out what is going on with the $27.99 price, hopefully it is still good, maybe everyone else should email him as well...
