these typo domains don't usually infringe copyrigths, they don't usually mind.

Typosquatting.

...okay, maybe another word: Trouble.

They probably won't do anything about a typo domain since now days most people are trained well enough. and don't usually make typos that often.

Questions:

1. Anyone know it's SE ranking? Alexa, PR ranking perhaps?

2. Based on no. 1 if possible, are the SE "numbers" enough to warrant action
from JC Penny? (of course, only JC Penny can answer that...)

3. How determined is JC Penny in going after those who exploit their name?
(and again, of course, only they can answer that...)

If they want it, they can get it. That's the risk you take with typos of trademarked names.

Please engage brain before putting mouth into gear ;).. training has nothing to do with it.. and I see typos made constantly in the forum here, let alone elsewhere.

Check Google for the term "typosquatting"... or here, let me direct you to:

""Typosquatting" - the intentional misspelling of words in domain names to siphon off Internet traffic from its intended destination - can lead to loss of the misspelled domain names and legal findings of bad faith. This was the result in the recent case National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues vs. John Zuccarini with respect to the domain name minorleaugebaseball.com, which contains a commonly made misspelling, and which caused Internet traffic to be directed to a pornographic Website."

And that's just one example...

Try registering anything even resembling microsoft, google, or ebay, and the lesson will probably come to you. JC Penney seems to have it's head in the sand as far as the internet so far, but could at any time pull it out and start filing C&D's & UDRP's.

Nicely worded adopt and DG right on the money.

Yeah it is a good idea and they probably wont mind unless it redirects to porn sites like the typos of websites for children's tv shows.

well.. they MIGHT just mind if it turned out to be a site boycotting JC Penny! :kickass:

well right now all it has is a link to the real JC Penney website (sedo parking), so I doubt they would mind

I'm sure they would mind if they found out you were making $ off their TM typo name.
