Is this forum going to the dogs - Jeff?

After a promising start & some very civilised discussion my thread on 'a fresh look at the mobile web' was hijacked by Jeff (staff emeritus, 10,000's of posts etc..) and his final comment accused me of bumping my post after 5 days of inactivity...

I then found that NP have (in their wisdom I'm sure) have closed the thread thus preventing me from replying..

Well, NP guys / mods .... is this forum now a closed shop? If it is, good luck to you; I'll be finding more open places to debate my interests & views.

But before I'm banned (seems to be catching on recently) I would like to let Mr Jeff know that the 5 days of inactivity happens to co-incide with the 5 days that I was away with my kids... so please don't make your smart comments to me...

by the way, that was said in a totally non-threatening nature mods!
(& is the end of my discussion on the matter)... I just think it's important to get some balance here & a PM to Mr Jeff would have left his last post on the conveniently closed thread unchallenged.

Note to mods etc... if you want a balanced debate please have the guts to remove your blinkers; this forum is becoming rather biased these days.

The solution is simple as can be. If you want to start a thread about MOBI without Jeff participating, please do it in the DOT MOBI forum here on NamePros.

I can't comment on the specific thread as I wasn't the one who took action on it, nor am I even aware who did...

Anyway, you're a good member and I've never had a problem with you personally. If it was mobi-related, it really is best to make sure that stuff is never posted outside the .mobi subforum.

Hopefully we can all work this out and move on.

This forum has many sections....

This is the "Domain Name Discussion" section....

Exactly how does this make it an exclusively .com arena...

If I wish to discuss mobile internet & DotMobi matters I use the Mobi forums, I started the previous thread in "Domain Name Discussion" because it is a general discussion section and I wanted to reach a wider audience to invite some fresh thinking on the extension....

I respect those who read my posts & left meaningful replies... it made the thread worth starting...

Do you not think its sad (even pathetic) that DotMobi can hardly be discussed in the 'open' on NP forums without being irritated by a nasty rash (name begins with a "J")

I don't wish to offend anyone but it does have to be remembered that a certain individual (name bgins with a "J" has actually been BANNED from the Mobi section because of the negative impact he had on the forum.. what this is doing is "ring-fencing" the discussion & debates on DotMobi by limiting where it can be discussed...

I suppose that this is a bit of a coup by ("J") as he will not be saddened by the lack mobi related discussion outside of the Mobi section of NP...

In my humble opinion, a sad reflection on some of the 'died in the wool' Dot Commies who oversee the forum... I am always interested in reading 'general discussion' posts outside my area of interest because I sometimes learn something new & may take action based on what I would not have learned had the information been locked away in sub-section of the forum...

So, whilst I agree that most .mobi discussion is suited to mobi sections of forums; I believe that it is essential that ALL extensions / genres / issues get an airing in the general discussion sections too..

Jeff, rather than habitually try to hijack any mobi thread; why don't you take a piece of your own advice... send a PM instead & save us all the irritation of having to read your smug, self-righteous comments.

Mods: I hope that you won't consider my comments offensive, I think its high time we allowed a balanced discussion; anyone looking at Dotmobi for the first time could me mislead my comments that some people make.... I don't need to hype the extension; one only has to read the news to see where the mobile web is going..

No - the discussion section is not just for .com .... BUT We made a .mobi discussion section for the VERY reason to separate them - Use it or otherwise don't whine when someone jumps in and gives their opinions.


And as always - Promoting other domain forums here is against OUR rules ... Cut it out or go elsewhere , It's disrespectful at the VERY least !

All staff here has done their best to accommodate the members here ..... I'm not a .mobi supported to say the least - Yet I clean up everything I "See" that I find offensive to those who do like .mobi .... Even removing threads created ONLY to get a rise out of you folks .... Like "SomeTMBrand".mobi is getting no traffic - "December is in the books" type threads created out of disrespect.

But no one wants to talk about that stuff .... Talking about positive things done for your benefit wouldn't be Prudent now would it ?

I'm the one closing and removing the majority of these threads - Because the arguements are silly. Beating a dead horse is putting it mildly.


Any more whining and complaining should be forwarded to [email protected] in the future.
