Premium .com domains have a steady appreciation growth yearly, plus a moonshot sale possibility.
The real profits in domaining is in banking premiums for years...
so how can you profit in the meantime?
option 1. Lease or rent the domain,
which gives you monthly passive income, plus increases traffic to domain which increases value x 10 - 20
option 2. build a site selling leads, to generate income, gives you passive income + increases value of domain, becomes from a domain a business, can increases value of domain x 100
option 3. if no one want to pay for it, rent it for free for active busy website, that will generate a lot of traffic, and increases value of the domain
