Does a domain sale increase a domains inherit value?

I was wondering, a domain sale actually increases the value of the domain in two ways.
1. I proves that it sale value
2. It may be posted on domain sales forums, trackers and lists. THis may bring some curiosity traffic. I know I alwasy check whats on a site that has been sold for a lot!

Maybe yes, maybe no. Depends on the name.

Let's say sex.com sells. Well, the new owner can sit on this name for a bit and then resell for more money because it is a great name.

Let's also say that brianshousepicturesofpatioinstallation.com sells. Well, the only person that would buy this is another Brian, who is installing a patio, and wants to post pictures of it and didn't realize he could just email the pictures to his friends who would delete the email anyway.

One name has resale VALUE, the other has none because the end-user base is basically nil.
