Hello domainers,

Here is the scoop:

I have found a .RU domain I would like to own at Sedo's catalog, and made an offer to a seller who then accepted my offer and I paid in full.

After I paid for the domain I received an e-mail from support, that I have to start a domain transfer procedure at my registrar, but since I am not an owner of the domain, there is no way I can initiate the transfer.

In my control panel at sedo.com it also says that I need to start a transfer request at my registrar.

I sent few e-mails to sedo's support crew, but received no answers. After that, I contacted a domain owner and found that domain is not really for sale and was never listed on Sedo.

It looks like Sedo is selling domains without any any notice to domain owners.

What do I do now?

Any input would be appreciated.

You can initiate a transfer on an unlocked domain -- to complete the transfer, however, you'll need the auth. code from the owner, which Sedo will provide, assuming you can do this with .ru domains.

a lot of domains are not authorized, what happens is a previous owner lists them for sale and then sells them outside of sedo and then forgets to delete their sedo listings after they have sold it so the new owner of the domain who has no intention of selling still has their domain listed in the previous owners account.

It is about "dot RU" extension. Domains in this extension are not allowed to be transfered automatically between two different registrars or even within one registrar's web site.

To transfer .RU domain, the domain owner needs to send a written request previously notarized by local notary public to a registrar that domain was registered at.

Well, Sedo should have known this, but, in any case, you should have them clarify the transfer procedure for this ccTLD.

There MUST be something set up so domains that are not pointing to Sedo NameServers get excluded from catalog. Otherwise, Sedo commits to sell domains that are not for sale by their owners

They are not responding to my e-mails

well they give you the option to sell them there without parking them there and quite a few people do this as they are not happy with the parking payouts, so they would have to force you to park there in order to list for sale and I'm not sure they would make that change.

as rocketfly has said you need to get support from whoever the broker at sedo is to clarify things for you, if no response I believe there is a user in this forum that still works there, use to be Mara not sure if this is still her account or a group shared account now...

send a private message and see what ya get, be nice to her as she is cool.

Thank you guys for all the input!

SpareDomains, I tried to get their phone number, but after doing a little research on their web site, I failed to get what I was looking for. Anyway, thanks for the link to the profile of the Sedo support person. Will make sure to drop her a message.

This is not intelligent ;)
How you would sell a website then at Sedo ?
Or what if other PPC providers are paying beter ROI, and you want to list with sedo.

Account email VS Whois email is the key (as they do today).

A compleete database revision from time to time is the only thing Sedo really needs to implement.

There is a special code that you have to put on your website so it gets listed in Sedo's catalog. That is how you sell working website without pointing your domain to their Name Servers.

Today I filed a PayPal claim against Sedo, and if not resolved I will have to proceed with further legal action.

That is optional.
