I'm starting a new website and I need some feedback. I'm trying to decide whether I should buy a new domain name or get one that is 7+ years old (via buying one from an end user or at auction for domains about to expire).
I've heard that the older the domain name, the better for ranking quickly / getting your content indexed faster. In fact, when I look at my Top 10 Competitors on G, I see that all of their domains have been around since 1998 to 2004.
Most of the expiring or for sale domains have no PR or at best a PR1 and only 10 to 20 inbound links, but they are aged domains.
What do you think? Does buying an aged domain really make that much of a difference? Or will you do about the same with a new domain name?
