Advertise on money???

It was a passing thought the other day when i was getting some thing to eat. Is it legal to place (writing by hand, or using a stamp obviously) a 2 google type ad on a dollar bill? Like "Free Tax info at www.blahblah.com", or "Make Up tips at www.beauty4u.com"

Unlike flyer ads, or mailings, nobody throughs away money, and it goes from person to person.

Any thoughts?

People do it all the time, but as far as I know it is illegal to deface US currency. Better check and be safe...

Seems to me that writing a small url on the bottom of a dollar bill, near the frame should be fine, as it can be reissued.

This is not "defacement" by the above terms, nor do you have the intent to render such items unfit to be reissued.

Just don't go crazy and use a big rubber stamp on them.

Your aloud to deface money, but if it "alters" it. Its illegal to resue it.

I have an uncle that will take silver coins/golden coins and cut equal sized holes in each, and switch the pieces to sell on ebay as a collector item. Of course, this cannot be spent.
