Is a 30 day hold of funds at TDNAM / Sedo / Afternic standard?

So I tried out TDNAM and sold a few names. I've never sold a name at sedo or anything comparable, so I was confused when I was made to feel stupid for asking why they hold the $$ for 30 days while I'm expected to give up my name.

Is this standard or is GD making an additional spread on the money?

Might not be standard at sedo but it has been the experience of many to wait quite a while to get paid.
