Unstoppable Domains โ€” Expired Auctions

I'm giving up a money-making secret

I debated telling the whole NP crowd this but I can't see how it would cut me out of any earnings and I wanted to help other NP's make a little more cash in these rough times. So here it is :

I started fooling around with eBay and using their direct linking method began to add generic domains to each corresponding page that matched up with the product. No website creation is necessary....just use the direct link method in EPN.

Well.....after tinkering around with it using different verticals most of which don't work....I found something that does. Animal domains.....especially one word animal domains.

Now don't ask me why, but they convert to $$$ better than domain parking does with any parking company I've ever used. It literally is putting over $x,xxx more per month to the bottom line over and above what I was making in domain parking. And....they rarely buy anything related to the domain's subject matter.

It's unreal. The success may be tied somehow to folks looking for a deal, but it seems to work best with animal domains and I just can't figure out why.

Regarding other types of domains I have found about one in ten to fifteen do better at eBay than they do parked.

Try it for a month and see. Good luck. :)

* Ever notice Sendori sends every third visitor to eBay. Why is that? :hehe:

Or the Ebay Partner Network, the Ebay affiliate program.

They provide the tool.....so......I suppose yes.

Just don't add any TM domains or anything lascivious / offensive. eBay is known to nix accounts for abuse. :)

I should also add that I am still working to identify if there is a pattern with clothing domains ......I have a couple that are doing good there too, but have not found enough clothing domains that work there to call it a pattern yet.

actually, i dont think this is allowed.

ebay partner network code of conduct section A, part 3:
Code:
You will not interfere with or seek to improperly influence the referral of an end user to Participating Sites and Content unless the end user knowingly and explicitly consents to that behavior by taking an affirmative action.

You'd be wise to confirm redirects are allowed. Looking this up, I tend to think they are not allowed. At least that's what I read in the discussion boards.

Hmmm, an interesting way to monitise a domain..thats thinking outside the box !!

I wish I knew about it when they auctioned off that Giga Yacht for $168,000,000...I would've pointed GigaYachts(dot)com to it :'(

Oh well ...wonder what the commision on a $168,000,000 sale would have been  ...maybe next time !

What that means is you can't put the words "click here" above an ad....etc....on a developed page. That is what I see when I read that.

I am not influencing anyone. I am simply sending the traffic to them. I have been in contact with eBay and they did not say anything negative about what I am doing.

They provide the link generation tool and I have been getting paid for a few months now so.......

But just to be safe.....everyone do your due diligence. :)

Hmmm.....maybe you know something I don't.

I'll go look at the TOS again.

***********************
OK....I'm back.......I just read the TOS and the eBay Partner Code of Conduct and I see nothing that says this is wrong.

I did find one section that I'm not sure I am interpreting correctly, but it seems that they don't want you to dump traffic on one advertiser or one product without that advertiser's permission, but there does not seem to be anything wrong with pointing traffic to a category like "monkeys".

They also don't want "kid traffic" either. Nothing vulgar, sexual, hate, etc....... that you would expect is allowed.

Also, if it is wrong why does Sendori do the exact same thing I am doing for the last two, three years? With Sendori I've seen domains that go to a parking page the first two times you hit the reload button, and then the third time it redirects directly to eBay.

Either way....I don't want any responsibility for others getting in trouble so I'll say it again : FOLKS DUE YOUR DUE DILIGENCE. GO READ THE TOS AND THE EBAY PARTNER CODE OF CONDUCT FIRST !

This sounds Interesting and alot easier than BANS, just make sure you get a domain with type in traffic I guess.

Do you promote PPC on those domains?

Mind sharing one of those domains through PM?

No PPC done.

No expired traffic either.......not saying it won't work....just that I just don't own any expired traffic domains. I hate 'em.

So the traffic you get is from organic type ins?

So domains with hyphens wouldn't work right?

Does the ebay TOS allow you run a PPC campaign to promote one of these domains?

No.....just direct navigation. I have less than 5% organic traffic overall in my portfolio...about 3% Yahoo and 1.5 % Google.

I like domains that don't need links from others like G or other sites to have traffic. A domain like Parrot, com needs no organic traffic or expired traffic to be successful on its own.....people just type it in.

Hyphens? Maybe......if it has traffic. Some hyphen domains have traffic. I never quite figured out why.....but they do quite often.

I'm not sure.....probably not.

There was a section all about that in the TOS but I did not spend much time on it since I don't/am not doing that.

Hey thanks for the tip! I'll give it a shot...

Let me know what happens.

If it works for you also then maybe we are onto something. :)

I should mention that i have found it works for some other domains also, but no rhyme or reason so far.

For example, I have one domains similar to NewYorkFashion, com that does really well at eBay but some other clothes domains have not done so well. So far I have found only two clothing domains that work there.

One had two ACRUs in Feb. for total of $56, not including winning bid commissions. However, in parking that domain only makes about $35 a year.

So....it's worth testing batches. Many verticals I have not even tried yet.....but most of the ones I have tried yet don't work on a whole.....just a domain here or a domain there.
