I believe I won an auction on tdnam but Godaddy has not sent me anything. The name shows up in my Won .cvs file but I think the original owner still has a week or so to pony up $80 and reclaim the name. Is that right, or am I wrong about that?

It just seems strange to me that I didn't receive an e-mail letting me know I won the auction.

If you did win then you should get an email stating you won.
But you do not get the domain right away, you will get it on the 41st or the 42nd day of expiring (about a week after you win the auction)
And yes the owner can still renew it or transfer it up until the 45th day.

Good luck :)

Weird, I didn't get an e-mail.

Sometimes it takes a few hours to get it.
Also one tip I have is to wait to pay for your auction, wait until 48hrs after auction.
Most of the time (not always) an owner renews their names within the first 48hrs after auction, this way you can try to avoid having to wait for a refund if they do renew in that time.

Godaddy usually send an email informing you that you won the auction. However there are also instances that no email is sent. This is based on my personal experience too. There are few occasion their email landed on my Spam folder so check out your folder for any Godaddy email. After payment, it takes around 5 days (more or less) before the domain goes into your account. That is, if that domain is not renewed or reclaimed by the original registrant.

However, if it was a BIN (Closeout) domain, you need to pay within two hours -- otherwise, it gets tossed back into the auction pool.

This happened to me last summer.

I checked my junk mail, no e-mail. I'm going to go ahead and pay for the name and if I get lucky it will be mine by next week. :)

Thanks for all the input everyone!

Can be more than 45 days.
Godaddy can still take it without giving any reason / explanation

Why will gd do that?

Yes... it can take time if you win an auction. Most of it is up to the person who owned the domain, as they can choose to reclaim it for a period of time. That's why in some cases, you'll get a domain sooner than others. It's possible that godaddy is holding on to it for some reason, or the person tried to rescue but their payment failed, etc... all adding up to possible extra days of wait time.

This is their answer:

domain awarded to your account in error. Due to the error, we will be returning the domain to the original registrant and will refund you for the purchase. We do apologize for any inconvenience this misunderstanding may have caused.

Maybe for safer.
You better to wait longer.
Until you move the domain out of GD and you are safe.

;)
