I saw a domain I liked and when I go to it, it says its expired and is pending renewal or deletion.

How can I get it, or how long to I have to wait?

The deletion period could be much longer than the 30 days. When a name expires then it could take up to 45 days before it actually expires, then it's in a "Redemption Period" for 30 days and then "Pending Delete" for 5 days. So it could possibly take up to 80 days +/- before a name actually drops. Also keep in mind that if it's a nice name then chances are it will be snapped up...so there's no guarantee that you'll get the name when it drops.

You may renew the name while it's in the "expired" period (1-45 days) and in the "Redemption Period" (30 days). However some registrars may charge up to $160 or more to recover the name while it's in the redemption stage. You do have the period after it expires to renew it at the regular rate.

It's always best to make sure that you renew the name early though to make sure you don't risk losing it or forgetting to renew and having to pay the high recovery fee.
