A domain registered with go Daddy that expired on the 08/04/2011 has not showed up in the auctions? Its has been 25days since it expired, why hasnt it gone to auction yet? It doesn't look like the domain has been renewed either.

Thanks
D

How did you check? When you open the domain you should see a link to its auction page.

The link is in this format (replace example.com)
https://auctions.godaddy.com/trpItemListing.aspx?domain=example.com

Thanks that worked. Weird that it does not show in the list A-Z with all filters off but when type it straight into the URL it does?!

I have the same problem. I am looking at a domain previously registered under GoDaddy. It expired back in March, and it still shows in redemption, but I have a few questions about it.

(1) Shouldn't the redemption period be over?

(2) Shouldn't it be made available through ALL registrars for a new registration after that?

It's been almost 2 months, and all the whois data is shown as unknown, but still shows the registrar as "WildWestDomains".

I may be paranoid, but I always feel GoDaddy is like the Stock brokers. They sell to us, but then they also buy themselves, to manipulate the market and to inflate prices. It's seems illegal and immoral,nNeglecting their fudiciary duties in both business's. I don't see it in GoDaddy's auctions, which I think is this dirty business of playing both sides of the fence. I want to register through someone else. I personally hate Godaddy because of this game.

SOrry for going off on a tangent, but I an wondering what to expect if this domain is in the redemtionperiod(STILL).

I am not doing a lot to draw attention to the name, so I can hopefully still get it. I've used GoDaddy's back-order service twice in the past. I got it for me once for the $20.00, and another time it didn't.

I just don't want to draw a lot of attention to it, hoping it just falls through the cracks, becomes available and I can get it for my $7.00 price.

Thanks in advance for any advice...

You are too late. You should come here earlier. The auction at godaddy runs between day 22 and 42 after expiry. Therefore it is already finished.

Why do you care what the whois says? The whois will almost always say something incorrect. You can never trust the whois with expired domains because all expired domains get auto renewed for free for 45 days. But this is temporary. All expired domains will show as renewed while they are actually expired during the first 45 days which is when they are auctioned. Both their status and their expiry date will be incorrect in first 45 days. On day 46 the whois data will start showing correct information but by the time the first auction will be already finished. Therefore you should not care about whois.

This is what you can do now:

If 45 days have passed after expiry, check the domain here.
http://www.moniker.com/whoisdomain.jsp
and see it its expiry date shows 2011 or 2012. If not wait until 45 days are over and then check. You must wait until day 46 for the data to be correct. Because before that it will be incorrect. If it shows 2012, the domain was sold at godaddy auctions. If it shows 2011 you will need to wait until day 72 for it to enter pending delete. It will stay 5 days in pending delete and then it will drop.

Domains that are allowed to enter pending delete become everybody's lap dancer. You should get it in the first auction between day 22 and 42. If it is a (.com and .net) godaddy domain and there is no first auction, the domain is not expired. All godaddy domains will go to auction at godaddy.com between those days. Only if nobody buys them (godaddy drops the price until $1) only then they will drop a further 30 days later.

As a godaddy customer i think when domain expired it does not go to an auction automatically, after 90 days if you do not remove domain from your account godaddy does itself. Am i right?
