Thats tight!
I wish they would do that, so I could find out the real owners of domain names.
For purchasing purposes.

This is just the yearly mailing campain ;)

You should have your WHOIS in any case updated.

Yep,

They get emails sent out once a year to verify all details.

What would they do if the owners name is right but everything else dated or incorrect?

This is still against Icann policy, and is subject to deletion if not corrected upon notice from the registrar.

Thanks, how long or where is a process example? Also is the name dropped into aution or just made public if the offender is not contacted?

The process goes more or less like this:

1. ICANN or someone tells the registrar of a domain with invalid WHOIS info.
2. The registrar will use every means possible to contact the registrant and its
contacts regarding it and give them a few days to respond.
3. If no response after a few days, the registrar suspends any access to the
domain to get the registrant's and/or contacts' attention.
4. If the registrant and/or contacts do respond, they'll be asked to follow any
and all the registrar tells them to do to ensure the WHOIS details are updated
and this never happens again.
5. If the registrant and/or contacts don't respond, the registrar will eventually
delete the name.
6. The deleted domain name will still follow its normal life cycle depending on
the extension's Registry.

If you want to read an extreme case, read my blog entry about it.

The rules are getting stricter.

I always enter fake stuff when I register...

Better stick to real names now.

What happens if I fail to click on one of these routine annual confirmation emails, which could happen if their email gets dumped in the junk folder?

If a domain were deleted due to non-compliance, I wonder if its possible for the registrar to actually keep the domain, for possible auction to the highest bidder?

Please don't scare me like that armstrong! :(

I got the email from GoDaddy too, right after that guy posted here on NamePros that they were reclaiming domains registered using the discount. Pardon my language, but I crapped myself.

That thought is actually quite scary. I'm sure they've had that happen to someone before, there may be exceptions. Let's just hope we dont have to find out the hard way?

Actually, they have all right to withdraw.

If they don't, they are being quite kind.

I got those e-mails, too.

Is it OK if I have "DOMAIN FOR SALE" after my first and last name in the contact info for each domain I own?

I want to make sure that's OK before I verify them, I assume it's OK!
