Besides Dynadot asking me to verify my Whois info under the new agreement they signed with ICANN, they are asking me to verify my Account Info. They say it's part of the same agreement. Is this true? I don't recall GoDaddy asking me for this info (although I may have missed it).

Go Daddy did ask customers to verify email addresses from a link within the email itself.

The problem is, some scammers have also sent out clone emails.

The real email does NOT ask you to log into your account. It just says, "Welcome Back."

The FAKE email asks you to login.

AFAIK, Dynadot is simply sending out emails asking you to just make sure your details are correct -- the standard yearly housekeeping details.

I have yet to receive any email verification email from Dynadot. If you did, stub, just make sure it's not a clone. If "Dynadot" asks you to login after the link takes you to a site, it's probably a scammer and a clone site.

One of ICANN's harebrained ideas that may end up biting the registrars in the butt.

If the same as godaddy you will not need to logon, it should be a click verify, i was already logged in at godaddy when i got my verify notice so i didn't stress about it, if not too sure verify then change password

Yes Ms Domainer this was a legitimate Whois confirmation request as per their new ICANN agreement (the same as has been discussed at length about GoDaddy and scams). I did not need to login to confirm my Whois info.

But I balked at confirming my Account Info. Their email was quite similar but not the same as the Whois info request mentioned above. I queried with support why they needed me to confirm my Account Info, and they told me it was part of the same new ICANN agreement that they signed. I've never heard about that before. I thought it was only my Whois info they required to be confirmed. I'm still discussing this with their support, and as of this posting I haven't yet confirmed my Account Info. I'm looking for more feedback.

Yes, I do on all my Registrars. So now I know this is part of the contract I should approve it? Yes/No? I wonder why this has no come up under any of the GoDaddy discussions I've read?

Yes, it has come up on NP; try these two threads:

As you can see, there has been a lot of confusion.

You should read through the entire first thread because it isn't clear at first.
