Is this business a profitable i want to know it?

i am also getting some offer for SEO, the customers wants their site to be listed on top of all serch engines.is that possible with seo

SEO Site isn't that tough to start. Anyone can do a site. All that matters, is the work you do! One doesen't need a site to start a SEO Service, Unless he's starting out a company.

I would suggest, you start of with freelancing until you get yourself established.

What you Need?

Skill, Loyalty & Patience is all you need.

SEO Can be anything :

1. Social Bookmarking
2. Directory Submissions
3. Article Submissions
4. Press Release Submissions
5. Keyword Research

And there are plenty more......

You first make the list of what you are willing to do, then formulate the necessary stuffs. For Example, For Directory Submissions, Your Directory list, the packages etc.

Always, keep up your words. Give the work on time!

These are the important things.

Of course it is profitable, if you do it for clients and you KNOW what you are doing and can provide RESULTS over time, then you can depending on the client and your skills you have learned on the practice of SEO earn a lot of money.

If you do it for yourself and create websites where you can earn money from through commissions, with affiliate marketing or what type of option that you can profit from, then if you know SEO and can optimize your sites to obtain good rankings to receive visitors with intend, thus people wanting to make use of the service/product you provide, whatever that may be you can make money.

Since you don't know anything about SEO - you're not going to do the right thing to pretend to the people inquiring with you that you do know SEO and charge them money for it.

Forget about taking on clients, first learn the basics which can be found using Google and then when you proceed learning the basics you will be learning much more automatically.

Develop websites of your own and learn as you go, perhaps at some point of time you can work for clients or maybe you like what you're doing so much by then that you only want to work for yourself.

Now start using Google to get started

Then I would say don't start the business right now learn first. It does have money but there is no money and it will be a total time waste if you are not having an answer and an idea for every thing that might come up when the project starts. Experiment first and then polish your skills. Because you will be working on live sites of other people and if something goes wrong then you are playing with their careers and the money that they might have saved for their future or their children.

To start you need to read and understand all the steps of Optimizing a site. You also need to be familiar with the webmaster rules of the major search engines. You also need to be able to use the online and offline tools that can help you in your research for a particular website' optimization.

There is no ebook or a tutorial that can teach you everything or there is no sequential approach to every website on the internet. It changes based on factors you are competing against.

Reading good blogs, forum posts and articles will help you gain the practical knowledge that others have gone through. Then to learn it yourself you can practice it on your own site. Maybe by bringing the SEO website on good position for SEO keywords

Using the things that you learn depends on you only as I have seen and experienced that people can't use knowledge even if they know about it and sometimes they use other things. There are lots of softwares but if the SEO was possible by that softwares alone then why would people be hiring SEO's for their services It is different everytime and a human brain has to make some decisions and have to react according to the results and tune up the things again and again. Yes it is. It is profitable but here are some ways.

Like you establish a small firm and hire guys to do links and posting etc and you do only the main parts of decision making in the SEO.

Other is you do it all yourself and it might be profitable but it is lengthy and boring thing to go on making 1000's of links for a particular website.

Offers are good. But if you yourself don't know that you can get them into the 1st page of the every search engine then there is no use of those offers.

It is possible and very much reality that the site can be ranked Number 1 on major search engines with SEO efforts. But it takes time and patience and good knowledge to get the site to that position. Because you are not only Optimizing it for Number 1 you are also taking place of someone else over there and competition will also try and get their place back.

In Simple Words: If you are just doing it for the sake of money then Yes you can do it but you need to think first that do you want to do it honestly. If yes then you have to learn much before charging someone for it.

Humm..More ideas are

1) Buy a SEO Book and read it Sometimes you might lose that money you spent in buying that SEO book or you might make a million dollar out of it. Again it depends on you.

2) Just refer your clients to some other SEO company of which you can be an affiliate of. This will allow you to make money from SEO without knowing SEO :D

If you don't know anything about SEO already, I wouldn't count on you being able to run an SEO business for quite some time. The field can be quite challenging and it takes a lot of practice and experience working with fickle search engines.

My suggestion: search google, there are plenty of free articles and resources to get you on your feet.

Sorry but is it not a backward steps you are taking, if I were you I would first learn at least a little about seo, before trying to earn money from it.

You might get a few customers now, but when they find out that you cant deliver what you promise, then your reputation will be ruined. Rep. is all we got online, remember that, if its bad you wont have any customers left.

SO for your own sake dont take against the offer from customers yet, do like ApeXX suggest, search google and read as much as you are able to for a month, then you will be able to accept offers from customers.

Looks like John already has this thread down packed. Doing what John is saying to do above is what I currently do. I have some web sites that show up on first, if not second page in Google search engines on the main keyword. SEO is the way to go. Is more for life long web sites.
