.mobi I have to agree reg's are getting worse!

I have to agree reg's are getting far worse and i think people are so addicted to regging names that any half decent finds give them a rush. I am guilty of this also. :'(

I was lucky to hand reg these earlier this evening.

LandLady.mobi rental accomadation. Only extension left on my search.

CabinCrew.mobi Job vacancies on planes.

As nearly every veteran domain name regger has said on this forum in the last couple of months, THE AFTER MARKET IS THE PLACE TO BE.

I have bought a few lately

UNP.mobi
Just.mobi
Mixture.mobi
Racist.mobi
XXXXXXX.mobi will reveal all soon. :xf.love:

some nice names IMHO.

AFTERMARKET IS THE PLACE TO BE :imho:

I agree, BUT there are good names still left in certain sectors, namely adult and foreign language, which I feel have been overlooked by domainers.

Hi!

Yes, regging is a fun feeling often..

I think what we might have to do is expand our perspective on this..

Keeping an open mind, assume that we have regged/looked up most of the terms we are aware of or knowlegeable of to this point.. with our niches specialties etc..

However, if you look up a term in wikipedia.org, you'll often find words that are highlighted in the entry that are still available that you were unable to think of or are reminded of..

I think there is alot out there using this technique.

Particularly strong advice if you have some type of passion in certain subjects that you may aspire to do for a living/lifestyle - Draft your Destiny!

..with that said, the aftermarket is definitely where legendary steals will be told of.. dot mobi is still at tightly contained secret.. and if you can muster up the will to take the chance, I really think there is no better place to spend your extra money than the .mobi aftermarket, period. (It all depends if on your budget, I guess)

For me, been regging $8.99 a time and doing well, thankful

Kind Regards,

`hachoo

there are some horrible, absolutely useless .mobi reg's ... I am not going to name any in fear most of them are registered by people on namepros :D ..

I can't believe that's registered... talking about horrible reg's ...

Keeping the reg door open-Don't leave us so fast, but seriously look into aftermarket

I agree! I was seriously thinking about starting a "worst reg of the day" thread hehe!

Newbies put on your late lights and do your domaining research as fast as possible.. but also know that this is mobile - skate where you believe the puck will be, not where it's been.. so like overture has its limits

You can't go wrong in your niches that much

You can't go wrong in your passions for development (Yahoo isn't such a hot domain word, or is it hehe)

Minimize your mistakes - Remember to utilize the return feature on most registrars.. answerable.com is 8.99 and 7.99 returned

Tip: A name you skip on can be used to reg a better name, later (keep lists)

Also, in Jan. 1999 I bought lotsa names at $70 (2 years).. I dropped more than 90%.. but the few I kept were well worth the entire experience.. regging bad names and dropping them is part of the newbie experience.. but don't leave so easily.. domaining is getting hotter and hotter faster and faster

The only names i regged for the mobi extention were ones i pre-regged with registrars. After that there is little of value left for domains that truely fit the extention, aside from new technology that emerges afterwards.

Although I will agree that there isn't much left now, I have to disagree with what you said.

I have registered plenty of great names that fit the extension, and I started in March.

Now, if you're talking 'super premium' names, then you are correct. I'm talking about 'semi-premium' names.

As I've pointed out here many times, there are certain sectors that have been largely overlooked by domainers where there are gems that remain unregistered.

Whether you think there was anything good left after the landrush or not is a matter of perspective, I suppose.

true
imho a lot of terrible regges too are where people are regging 2/3 words & trumpeting overture like its gonna be their saviour
its one tool i never use. yep
short, generic & branding better imho
its gonna work slightly different
having said that, beauty is in eye of beholder
development can cure almost all ills
lastly, we all have lists & there are stacks of good one words & niches... trust me. many mobi relevant too.
we all see it slightly different

Disagree on so many levels.

Other than that, I must say Ive seen many bad ideas taken in .mobi and .com. Generally If I see the term open across the board, I'll either pass or than take the .com only.

In the current mobi market even "super premium" names are not fetching good prices. If the market was more stable investing in less than premium names might be a good idea but you could also be setting yourself up for a big loss depending on the volume registered.

I had big hopes for mobi when it first came out but the extention seems to be losing more wind every day and it makes me worried. I'll be seriously pissed that didn't unload my domains right away if it doesn't take off like it should.

^ You will not be alone! :yell:

I do agree, though, with other's belief that there may be some overlooked mobile niches where domains remain unregistered - and that could be registered (or acquired in the aftermarket) with a specific development plan and marketing budget for that website in place, IMHO. :gl:

Dude, have some patience. .mobi is too new. How can it be "losing more wind every day" when there's no wind to begin with? I don't understand your logic at all.

From all the evidence I've seen, .mobi appears to be building more wind every day.

And, take a look at this poll to see how domainers feel about it:

Well reseller prices have dropping considerably. If you look at the auction following mobi release and the last auction, its terrible.

My biggest worry..is that there will not be any sites that general population will use on a large scale. If we can get people saying ____.mobi all the time, that would be great. Yeah i figured i'd have to hold onto the domains for maybe 5 years which is no problem. I just hope mobi doesn't become obsolete in that time period. Things like the iphone are only going to continue to happen and sadly for whatever reason none of these cell phone companies that backed mobi are doing anything for it besides making websites that no one will visit on mobi domains that only redirect to the .coms.

^ and its this kind of thinking that will slowly start the great mobi domainer depression.

way too many people had unreasonable hopes/expectations for mobi... probably the MAJORITY of mobi'ers.. nothing we can do about that except recognize it for what it is: impatience and a misunderstanding, whoops.

lots of mobi'ers will drop off and forget about it entirely because of this, much like many of the early domainers who dropped premium .coms in the early days.

mobi is no .com, but a similar cycle will take place i predict.

And I'll quietly go along continuing to buy .mobis, but you'll never hear from me :hehe: Seriously speaking, there's a whole lot more sales going down than are being listed in DN Journal, featured on Sedo, etc. I've bought 8 mobis (5 for >1k each) in the last month alone. I've never had any of them listed on DN Journal, Sedo, etc because they're not for resale -- so I don't need that kind of publicity. I highly doubt I'm alone when it comes to that... As for mobi prices -- ah well, I'll make my money back, that I'm sure, on my developed sites... And if prices fall too low, I just may feel the need to go out and buy a few for resale :tu:
