I'd appreciate some advice here. I can register an actual 5 letter dictionary word as an .AI for the Registration Price of $149 for 2 years. As a .com this word is appraised at $12,400. Weirdly the same word as an AI is appraised at $100! WTF!

So my question is if I can register any 5 letter single word as an Ai domain should I jump on the chance if the same word as a .COm is worth $12,400? The word is not that obscure either as an adjective.
Welcome your advice and input. My budget is limited.

In short, no.

At least, not without doing some due diligence and in-depth research first (If it's a word + niche you are not already fluent in).

Not all words are created equal.

Some have more demand than others. Some have no demand at all. And then, there are some words that play well with the after the dot extension and others that don't work at all with the extension.

I wouldn't just blindly grab/register a 5-letter word .ai until I dug into the meat of it to see if it might be something that could increase in demand/value in the future.

That's just my opinion, though.

I agree with Eric

Also, I am very active in scraping and running availability checks on .ai domains practically running 24/7 - almost to the point I think I may know which domain you are referring to.

That said, you would be shocked how many domains are still available with 3 letters, much less 5, and I've seen hundreds of thousands of still available .ai words and feel confident in saying any single word that isn't plural and has value is already taken.

Also, I don't trust .com valuations from anywhere at all, but any real 5 letter English word in .com would fetch much much much more than $12,400 on just about any appraisal tool.

I don't know for certain what the word is, but I would err on the side of most-likely no if it's a large part of your available budget.
