industry?

Think about who would visit the site?

Would it generate money or is a humdrum word that doesn't really mean anything? Maybe lookup overture bid tool or search google and see if it could be a viable keyword for PPC or affiliate site.

Fair enough and good suggestion. Now for a followup....

I have another name, a .com that is a mispell that gets over 5550 OVT. Problem is, when I search the mispell, the correct spell comes up. What does that mean and how does it affect this daily used name?

Do NOT register the domain. It will be a waste of money. I had a mispelling of a domain that is a LLLLLL.com with an OVT of well over 100k (when the 85k root word is combined with others). I hardly receive any traffic on it and probably will not even recoup my registration fee.

That is strange that OVT shows so many results for the word. Is it normal for OVT to substitute or manipulate the results like that?

Not on all words, but on most (at least that I have noticed). I've learned the hard way on this one--wasted a few different registration it.

Overture with extension is far more important/usefull IMO - but I think you and me have had this conversation somewhere before  :hehe:

What do you mean "overture with exenstion"

oveture measure how many times someone has searched for a word like "HoHos" (I believe at MSN and Yahoo). Oveture with extension would be like "HoHos.com" (extension being the tld or cctld).

To which someone inevitably turn on you, demeaning the value of your domain because it "wasn't searched with extension", or " the words weren't searched together" or ACUTAL COMMENT: "Just becuase it gets searched, it doesn't mean people visit the site".

Yeah... we've had the conversation before and I'm really, really trying hard to find the value in OVT.

But even here, now... I've got a mispell with over 5500 OVT and am being told it's worthless. LOL!!!

I guess I'll never get it :D

.com is the king...I wouldn't bother regging a .net or .org with such a small OVT search because not many people are looking for it. Also I think it depends on it it's a NOUN. Something you could build a site around or imagine someone else doing so.

If it's a .com dictionary though...go for it...you could at least make $25 selling on Ebay....and who knows how much it would go for after a year or more? NO dictionary words will be available at all in the future...and now it's even hard to find 2 and 3 word generic term .com

I think so. As an example of another one. I own Clitorus.us.
When I type Clitorus into OVT I get 100,527 for clitoris come up.

Same thing w/ google I get 204,000 with no (did you mean clitoris) message.

The mispell is a .com Typo and an everyday product around the house. SOOO common it'll blow your mind. 5536 OVT. Makes you wonder.

Okay I would like to know what the Black highlighted key words mean on Overture.
Can someone answer that?

It is the exact term you are searching for when there are higher results.
For example if I type in "house" it will highlight it in black because there is another term with "house" that has a higher overture...which is "new house."
