Hello everybody, I would like to share what happened to me recently and have your expert opinion about what could be happened.

I found and bought a nice domain name on onlydomains.com
The domain was: yes.do
The transaction thou was stuck since they could not take money form my card (i use debit card on internet and probably was not filled at the time)
I put the money on the card and tried to pay them again, with no success because the button "resend payment" was no more available on the payment page.
Then I received a call from them where we tried to solve the problem, and then the button Resend payment appears again.. so finally managed to pay for that domain, even get the receipt from them on email.

After a while, I receive another mail from their office
--------
Unfortunately the domain name yes.do is not available to register.

Occasionally our registration system does not correctly detect if a domain name already exists.

In some circumstances, the domain name may appear on a non-published reserved/banned list, and for this reason, it may appear that the domain name is technically available to register.

This order has now been cancelled and a credit will be applied to your account.

Please contact us if you have any questions or need any further assistance.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards,

Only Domains Limited

In your experience is possible that something like this may happen? did ever happened to you ?
Thanks for the help,

Francesco

Thanks, yes I checked on whois myself too after their mail, and I saw that was actually already registered, but it seemed strange to me that the site allowed me to proceed until that point... usually with godaddy they take it out from the cart when happen to find one that is registered but you managed to put in the cart anyway.. Just seemed me strange.. the fact is that i cant trust that site no more after this..

That's correct. You shouldn't trust a registrar like this who are not diligent enough to catch these problems.

I recently registered Copter.co through GoDaddy.

Days later they refunded me and said they were unable to get the name into my account...

I have had that happen to me on several occasions. GoDaddy often shows domains that are unavailable as available, especially during bulk searches.

GoDaddy's domain search isn't in real time, but that wouldn't explain all their foul-ups regarding avail/non-avail domains.

@Joshua Reason - why are you showing the domain in your signature if it isn't in you GoDaddy account?

GoDaddy's search is frequently incorrect. My issue is that for the first time, I got all the way through the registration process and was told they were unable to register it 24 hours later.

GoDaddy is notorious for this! At least your registrar tried to give you an explanation. Don't hold your breath waiting for Godaddy to offer one.

Happened with me one time.. I used one GD code with two accounts (created new account for second domain).. GD took it back.. and now asking me to verify my identity (as I used same debit card for payment of invoices on both accounts)..!! Whois is showing GD is owner of that domain..!! When I try to log in second account the verification instructions appear (can't control my domain)..!!

It happens sometimes.
I was unable to register some great names before. Some domains for some odd reasons, they show available, but actually registered a long time before.

It happened to me as well, not by the registrar, but by the registry itself. They took back the name from me. :)

Google administers ..ใฟใ‚“ใช, the first Japanese IDN gTLD that went live in February 2014.

I registered ๆ—ฅๆœฌ..ใฟใ‚“ใช (Translates into "Japan.Everyone" in Japanese) a few months ago through Dynadot, but to my surprise, shortly after two weeks from the date of registration, this name was revoked by the registry, stating that the name was a reserved name, and was mistakenly made available for registration.
