It will simply eb a glitch in their system - it showed available but it actually wasn't. If you email them you get a full refund. I have had this happen to me when people have checked out 10 seconds before me at GoDaddy. You would have been very lucky to find a CCC.com available to register!

Same thing has happened to me a few times...it's a glitch, as explained..but that doesn't stop the sting of the bad news.

When it's too good to be true.... It is.

This is a glitch in GD's system, but I still do not get why people check to see if a domain is available at GD, since they do not provide a live system to there users.

Moniker, eNom and Tucows are only three with Live Whois and really tell you if a domain is available or not.

So if a domain drops at 2:00 CT, Moniker will show it's available Exactly when it is, godaddy and other registrars will not show until they update there system, which is like every 4 hours. In 4 hours, if the domain was good enough, it would be long gone, most of the times it's gone in 1-2 seconds.

So if you check a domain that dropped this morning, at godaddy, it Could be available and GD will say it's not.

The moral of the story..... Check availability via Moniker.com or eNomCentral.com!

This has happened to me at godaddy several times.

networking.net
sexy.fm
collegestudentloan.com
homenetwork.info

etc ......

It does sting when you see the "failed to register" email. Sexy.FM made me so freakin mad!!! My wife had to ask me what was wrong at dinner 3 days later. Networking.net made me mad for about a week.

There have been about 6 in the last 3 years that really got my goat.

GoDaddy said an LLL.com was available to register before... boy was I disappointed!

Oh, and use the following coupon code: "goox3004at". Why pay $9.15 when you can pay $7.15? :)

it is def a software weakness in GD systems. GD should get their act together and stop this.

I had the same happen to me at GoDaddy a couple of weeks ago. I read on another forum that a Belgium Company was latching onto domains that appeared in your GoDaddy cart and were "tasting" the domain. The forum's advice was to recheck it and it may release if the traffic was not great. Guess what, 5 days later, it was available and I now have it. Don't know if a LLL.com will come back though.

iWhois says it's in Pending Delete, so you should quickly backorder is at SnapNames/Pool/NameJet.

I remember back in the 90s, one of the registry said microsoft.net was available.
It changed to unavailable minutes after.

Glad I don't register anything at GD anymore, that sucks!

It happens quite frequently, or at least - it used to. I fielded so many complaint phone calls in the Billing department about domain names that they registered and then realized only hours later that it wasn't true.

Where do you recommend to register domains to prevent co's testing your domains!

Moniker's are done in real time so I have therefore never had this problem. I have also never had any domains tested through them. Fabulous are also a great choice
