HUGE DOMAINS SNIPING GODADDY CLOSEOUTS

SpaceshipSpaceship
Watch
So annoying Godaddy hasn't stopped Huge Domains from sniping Godaddy Closeouts with their automated tools, no way a human bidder can win a even closeout.

First they were sniping with the backorders, now you cut that out, and you are letting them snipe via automated tools.

So what do you say @Joe Styler , you want to even the playing field a bit, as your partners are bidding everything in a split second, from $12, to $11, and bidding everything else into the hundreds from a simple bid. I would rather pay a Huge Domains surcharge at checkout.

Huge Domains has an unfair advantage on the auction platform, essentially taxing every user for using it with their automated access advantages given to them thru the house.

Meanwhile if they would have invested 10MM in GoDaddy stock when it came out their total account value now would be 28MM

I think in a year they get maybe 30,000 names from GD, figure what im tracking I am seeing them average 25 names a day so even if you add many closeouts and other names 80 x 365 = 29.2k

They are not in business of speculating/investing in other stocks. They are in business of buying/selling domains.

I'd say they buy at least 1000 domains a day from GD, probably closer to 500k names/year.

You don't grow to 5MM to 7MM names from 300K they still mention on their website by buying 30k names a year...

But for remaining names, HD gets to snap them at just $11 as a payback via special access to api and first access through being in the same building or superior backend or something else.
GD and HD doing mutual understand business, whats the need of special api for HD, HD will filter the names oneday before and GD will close the closeout for those domains. i have stopped participating in GD auctions 1year before because of the HD auto bids.

Over the last few days, every single domain that I try to purchase after the auction ends, doesn't even go to the "add to cart" stage (doesn't display the button), just shows "not available" after a few refreshes and then (also unusual) stays like that for a long time. Either someone new got their hands on the API (snapping a whole lot of domains and then slowly analyzing them before paying) or maybe it's part of the changes to closeout handling that Joe Styler talked about, but I sincerely hoped the changes would be for the better, not worse...

Bidder 2739899 and Bidder 3276427
Bidder 2739899 always bids in a last few seconds of auction. Is it a bot ? I dont think a proxy bid behaves like this. Also these two bidders put their initial bids exactly at the same minute ( maybe a few seconds apart ), just couple of hours before the auction end.

The closeouts you have no chance, because a bot can snipe the auction the milli second it goes live at $11, you wouldnโ€™t even be able to react by the time itโ€™s already in their cart.
@Joe Styler You know it well that this is absolutely unfair to nonAPI individuals like me. Please remove the API access to closeouts and let it be a fastest finger first. It is the same amount of money for both so it wont make a difference for GD pocket.

From the little bit we know about DC, if GD removed the API, DC will build a robot with supersonic fingers and still beat everyone

That's not a good reason *not* to do it, though.

First of all I don't think GD will ever honor the public request to remove the API access for their *DP customers. If they ever do they could put some antibot measures. But yes I agree... it is not going to be simple as that.

Does anyone has won any domains recently at a low range price? Every time I bid some domains with 0 bidders the price shot up in the hundreds instantly. Tried to bid both in the last hours or last minutes. Any suggestion?

HD also started dropping domains and cutting costs.. what will be the reason?

I think it is a regular practice of dropping non-traffic domains.

There is something behind it ...

Other people are interested and they were hoping the name goes to closeout, when you bid you woke them up.

Possibly, but: those people were not ready to bid on the name for $12, and after somebody else places the first bid they are willing to pay several times $12 more to win the auction?

It's not about readiness, it's about having your hand forced. As long as the domain is going into closeouts, you can try to snap it for $11. When the first bid is placed, it's either take it or leave it, and usually more than 1 person/bot wants to take it or at least try.

Unfortunately I have not read this post. Today I missed out on a very good domain.
I bid the domain that I chose at the last minute for $12, and bumm ... these two guys appeared at the domain I was targeting.
