I've had an offer for four of my domains for $80, which is what i was hoping to sell them for, but the problem is the buyer is an unknown quantity at namepros. No itrader, no rep, and no posts to his name.

I'm not too worried about potentially losing the money, but I do hate being ripped off.
Curious how you would proceed?
Escrow?

I haven't sold any domains before, so I don't really know what the best course of action should be...

*edit* no posts to his name, and joined NPs in Oct 2007... should alarm bells be ringing?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
AfternicAfternic
No rep no TR and no posts...
and only communication through PM
I would be very concerned! :imho:

Well it should ring a bell but you must also remember that you were also new to NP once and had no transactions and no feedback.

You should ask him to complete one transaction using a good payment method such as Moneybookers and if everything goes fine then continue with the other domains one by one.

do not sell them all at once.

Good luck!

I forgot to ask: why are people generally reluctant to use paypal in such situations?

Paypal dispute and chargeback scammers risk. Even few months after sale, buyer can file a dispute with their bank or credit/debit card provider...

A chargeback sets in motion a chain reaction. The buyerโ€™s bank pulls the funds from PayPalโ€™s merchant bank. PayPalโ€™s merchant bank pulls the funds from PayPal. And we, in turn, pull the funds from the Seller.

go with sedo, they charge 10% but at least you'll get your money.

if everything's 0 about this person, then i would still do business with him/her but i will opt for np$ as payment since it's the most secure, and also notify one of the staff about it for security purposes, that is if you still want to sell.
